The Ethereal • Chapter Five
'New Classes and Classmates '❦
Chaeyoung tried to focus as they were taking notes on Defensive Shielding, but couldn't help but wonder what exactly Vernon had seen, glancing over at him multiple times.
As an hour and so passed and the bell chimed again, class was dismissed.
Vernon has immediately stood up and was ready to walk past Jaehyun and Chaeyoung to leave, but before Vernon could rush off anywhere, Chaeyoung tugged onto the bottom of his hood gently.
He halted, slowly turning to glance at her.
"What'd you really see?" She asks, her voice barely above a whisper and Vernon pauses, feeling a bit guilty as he realized how worried he's probably made the new girl feel.
"I-it wasn't necessarily much." Vernon replies, avoiding eye contact. "It was nothing, really. I just got shocked because the vision was very... fast." He explains, setting Chaeyoung's heart at slight ease, but still anxious as she could tell he wasn't telling her something.
"I... I gotta go to my next class, I'll see you guys later." Vernon says quickly, plastering on a small smile for both Jaehyun and Chaeyoung before rushing off.
Jaehyun had gotten up from his seat, extending a hand to help Chaeyoung up, which she took.
"You good?" He asks, knowing what Vernon said had worried her. Jaehyun had instantly regretted suggesting Chaeyoung to get her future 'seen'.
"Yeah, i'm fine." Chaeyoung says, tucking a piece of her golden hair behind her ear.
Jaehyun nodded, examining her radiant features as she was still lost in thought.
She was truly an ethereal, flawless being.
"Alright. Let's get you to Herbology, then." Jaehyun says quietly as Chaeyoung had still looked shaken up.

The Herbology class was in the West Wing, and was only three doors down from the Defensive Shielding class, so Chaeyoung was one of the first to arrive, the door still being shut.
Jaehyun waited patiently with Chaeyoung for a few minutes, making small talk until Chaeyoung had asked him where he was headed afterwards.
"Oh, I have Elemental Earth." Jaehyun explains, rubbing the back of his neck. "It's my least favorite class."
Chaeyoung was rather surprised.
They were making a werewolf use elemental forces?"How does that work out?" Chaeyoung inquires, rather curious.
Jaehyun shrugged. "I'm not good. I struggle everyday because I had barely passed the Elemental Earth I class, and I was just put into it again this semester. I can do what the other kids do, just not as powerful nor easy-going for me." Jaehyun sighed. "After all, I'm a werewolf, for goodness' sake."
Chaeyoung frowned to herself, feeling empathetic for the other as he looked rather insecure about it. She didn't think he was struggling at all if he had managed to pass even the first class of Elemental Earth as a werewolf.
"Well, I think it's amazing that you're able to even do anything with elemental force. I know werewolves have extraordinary powers on their own, but nothing with controlling the earth's elements. That's really cool, Jaehyun," Chaeyoung beams at him, "no wonder you're ranked number four in the whole sophomore class."
