What symbolizes Canada to me?

There are many ways to describe Canada, and what it may be to other people. I see Canada in a strange way. I don't necessarily look at the landscape, or the people. But Canada has an unique sound. Whether it be by an instrument or a waterfall, there is always noise.

Music has always held a special place in my heart, for it connects me to my family. My grandparents taught me the value of music; which is probably why I view Canada in such an abstract way. Canadians seem to use music for every occasion like weddings, funerals, etc. But the music of Canada isn't only the physical music that we all think of first. There is music all around us. Whether it be the birds singing in the trees or the steady hum of the waves on the shore.

To me, music is Canadian because you will never go anywhere and sit in silence. If you listen closely, there will always be a noise of some sort. You can hear the wind rushing through the trees, and you may hear the howl of a coyote. No matter where you go, you will always hear something. You can sit in a field in complete silence, but you will hear an abundance of things. You may hear the crickets in the fields of Saskatchewan or you may hear the tap of a mountain goats hooves in the mountains of British Columbia. And if you don't hear anything, you arent listening. Even if the world around you is silent, you can still hear your own breath and your own thoughts.

Every time I leave Canada, I am always amazed at how different Canada sounds. It always sounds like home. Nowhere else can you hear people communicating and the sounds of nature surrounding our country. Every time I leave Canada, I find myself longing for the songbirds and the sounds of the Canadian artists that bring all of us joy.

Many Canadians use music. Many people go out to concerts with their friends, while others go out alone and just sit and listen to the world around them. Noise is in abundance in our country, everywhere you turn there is something new. While every country has its own unique sound, Canadas is my favorite, because it reminds me of home
