My body was wrapped in a soft, white blanket, a soothing feeling caressing me. To the left of me was one of the losers. After school ended, we made plans to hang out, and somehow fell asleep without even training. To be honest, I don't have many friends. Serana is the only girl I've ever considered as somebody to invite over, but still, i never have. With these boys- and Beverly- it was so much calmer for some reason unknown. I felt like I could speak for hours and never bore them, or just listen to them talk for hours, and never bore myself.
"You're awake," Eddie whispered over to me as I peaked my head out from my blanket. My head whipped over to him rather quickly, as I did not expect his words. As the morning rays of light shined through my curtains, I could faintly see Eddie's peaceful face. Most of the night, Richie and Eddie bickered back and forth, so I never got to see him so calm. "How did you sleep?" He inquired as i nonchalantly run my fingers through his dark hair.
"Fine. You?"
"Okay. Better than most nights." I didn't sleep well most nights either, so I could admire his statement. A light beeping sounded through the room, and Eddie frantically tried to switch it off. "Time for my pills." Eddie sighed as he reached in his fanny pack. He takes some pills with a bottled water he brought.
"Oh shit, School," Eddie whisper yelled out of realization.
"It's summer, Eddie. There is no school," I remind him, nibbling on my bottom lip to see him relax.
"Thanks for letting us sleep over." Eddie was polite, so his parents must have taught him well. Perhaps he is not always polite to his friends, and he says strange things, but I loved it. Polite people are always somewhat... unsettling.
Once everyone began to wake up, we all sat up with tired eyes after staying up far too late.
"Wh-What's go-going on today?" Bill asked as he rubbed his eyes.
"We should go down to the park and talk." I suggested, just wanting to get out of my room. We all nod in congruity. First I needed to change. I thought I would let Beverly borrow one of my outfits. The boys didn't really need to change. I shoo the boys out of the room and look through my closet.
"This would look nice on you," i say, biting down on my bottom lip. I set down the jean shorts, and plain black shirt down onto my messy bed, allowing Beverly to grab them. Her head bobbed as she took the clothes, wondering out into the bathroom to change. I myself took out my blue jeans, and forest green shirt, tucking it into my jeans, and adding a black belt.
"Let's go." grabbing my sling bag, i gestured for the door. Outside, the weather was simple; about 85°f and a slight overcast. A perfect day for a biking trip down to the park.
As we arrived to the park, we hooked our bikes up to the rack, and sighed. "What now?" Stan asked, puzzlement riddling his pale face. Stan was the quieter of the group, but also very intelligent. I admired his observation skills. Inside of my bike's basket was a red blanket, I pulled it out and laid it in the dry grass.
"You know there is a bench right there, right?" Eddie asked.
"There's probably so many Things on the ground. Even with the blanket there." He seemed to panic even worse about dirt than about a scummy metal bench that had been touched by human hands far worse than a blade of grass.
"Come on. Can't you do anything without worrying about diseases." I whine and lay on my back. The others finally joined me, awkwardly squeezing onto the small square of fabric.
"Help," A boy shouted out from behind the treees. Inspecting the scene, my eyes matched onto the blue car sitting right outside the tree line. Instantly, Stan took notice in it. I was the first to stand, hoping that I would be able to abet whoever Henry was bullying next.
The losers and I sprinted to the scene, but unlike the others, I was being quite clumsy, and tripped over a stick, tumbling down a side of the hill until I was straight beside the boy Henry Bower's was shouting at. Meat piled up beside the boy, his white shirt stained from the juices. Snickering, Henry grabbed my shoulder, lifting me to my feet. A wave of terror and hurt tore through my body as my ankle began to throb.
"What's up slut?" Henry laughed, gazing over to Beverly as she stood beside the rest of our friends on the whole other side of this creek-like area.
Bev rolls her eyes.
"Let her go you fr-freak," Bill yelled.
"Oh s-s-sorry. D-d-did I stutter," Henry mocked bills stuttering with a animated voice. I noticed how loose Henry's grasp was, and waggled until I was finally free. Right as he turned to glare at me, a rock flew straight between his eyes. Perfect timing Richie.
The homeschooled boy made his way to me as rocks flew our way, inevitably hitting us every once in a while. He helped me stand, and the two of us attempted to get to the other side of the creek without too much attention getting drawn to us. "Go blow your dad you mullet wearing asshole!" Richie shouted, flipping Henry off with both hands.
Minutes later, we were all back by our bikes with a light laugh, and small cuts and bruises from the rock fight. Richie seemed rather unbothered as he bickered with Eddie about something unknown. "Thanks for uh... y'know?" My words made no sense, but Mike knew what I was speaking about.
"Yeah, you sort of saved me too, so." Mike grinned, handing me my rolled up blanket from earlier. "Do you need any help getting home. With you leg messed up..."
"I uh... I think I'll be fine. You should join us one of these days." Mike had a grin on his face I knew all too well. Hope.
