"Wake up, little one.." A soothing voice gently spoke, as paws stroked Foxpaw's ears.
Waking up, she barely managed to open her eyes, her eyelids feeling as heavy as a boulder.
She wobbled to her paws, her right fore-paw stinging with pain, her shoulder aching and sore. Everywhere on her body seemed to throb as she walked through the dark tunnel.
She didn't know where she was going, or what she was doing, she didn't even realize her paws were moving.
Even in this dark, scary cave, Foxpaw didn't feel alone. Something seemed to wrap it's tail around her shoulders, somehow to soothe them.
She tripped and fell on her chin, feeling her teeth dig deep into her gums. Foxpaw gasped in pain as blood poured from her mouth, but it wasn't because her teeth sank into her mouth.... it was something else....
Her mouth was throbbing so hard she didn't even notice her jaw was broken, it felt as though it was twisted upside down it hurt that bad.
The moment she got up another horrible, stinging pain shot through her chest as she realize her heart hurt whenever it throbbed.
She could feel the blood beginning to grow thin, the throbbing beginning to stop as her paws went cold.
Her tail fell, then her legs buckled and she fell to the ground. Her breathing became shallow, blood pooling around the she-cat as it kept oozing from the horrid wounds.
Foxpaw groaned in pain, then closed her eyes tightly, letting the gentle wave of sleep drag her in.
She woke up in someplace bright, brighter than a thousand stars lighting up a deep hollow, which was where she was.
The aching had stopped, and something waited in bushes behind her.
None of this felt real, it felt like some sort of dream.... but it wasn't, because she could feel her fur bristle up when the dark figure crept out of the bushes.
It leaped for her, and she gasped when she realized who it was. Suddenly a flash of orange and brown jumped in front of her as a cat fought off the gray one.
"Graycloud!" Foxpaw immediately recognized that horrid screeching sound when the tomcat was struck with a thorn-sharp blow.
"Bloody StarClan cats! Worthless worms!" He yowled as he ran away into the bright forest.
Foxpaw stooped low to the ground, fear making her claws dig into the soft soil.
The cat who had protected her stepped in front of her, lifting her up by grabbing her neck fur.
"Come on, he's gone. There's nothing to be afraid of now." The voice was that of a she-cat's, it was gentle.
"You seem awfully young to be here all ready..though we've been having a lot of kits lately. Sad, but true, isn't it?" The strange cat seemed to drag Foxpaw along with her as they walked through the forest.
Foxpaw was so shocked at this cat that she couldn't find the words to speak, only nodding her head when she talked.
"Oh, yes, you must be confused. This is StarClan. And I'm Leafpelt." Leafpelt said 'StarClan' so smoothly that she had to back up.
"S-StarClan? I can't be here! I-I still have my Clan to take care of! Please, can I go back? I can't be here!" She pleaded Leafpelt, hoping somehow she could return to her Clan.
Leafpelt half nodded-half shook her head, and Foxpaw tilted her head in confusion.
"What do you mean? Why can't I go back!" She stomped one paw on the ground, dust flying up around her.
Foxpaw lashed her tail, anger and fear fizzling inside of her.
"I could possibly speak with the elders...."
"Yes, please, do that!" Foxpaw begged, hoping that these elders could do something.
"Don't you want to take a tour?"
"I'll take a tour when I'm dead." She snorted.
"You are dead. How else do you think you're here?"
Author's Note:
Well this was a quick chapter..The reason everything felt like it was going by so swiftly was because during the cave scene, she was dying, so nothing felt normal. She didn't realize what she was doing because she her mind was focused on breathing and staying alive, not to take time to think about what was going on. When she finally died, it went by quickly because I imagine StarClan to feel like one looongg dream, not like being awake. Usually in dreams things go by quickly, and this little apprentice has never experienced StarClan, so everything was warped and going by like a dream. Phew, after explaining things it might make them more understandable, huh? All right, onto the next chapter!
