My family and I almost got lost on our way to my cousins house. Not that I would admit to Sophia.

It was a really good thing I am fluent in Spanish. Otherwise, we would be in so much trouble right now.

I've only been here a few hours and we were already lost. But it was a good thing we did speak Spanish. I wonder if anyone else here does speak English as well.

Anyways, we finally got to my cousin's house at around 10:00 p.m. It looked the same when I was here a few years ago. Roses growing in pots, somewhat vines growing on walls, and black fence gate.

I honestly felt like I was in a fairytale from how the house looked like from the outside.

And I felt at home.

Knock, knock I heard my dad knocking. The door slowly opened as the person behind the door peeked through the gap. The person looked shocked and heard some locks unlocking.

"Mom! Valerie and her family is here!" She screamed. "Come in." Said the girl. She looked familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on it. My family and I walked in. I heard footsteps and I turned around. It was a lady walking down the stairs. In fact I think that's my aunt.

"Hola hermana es agradable verte!" My aunt said. I guessed right. My mom only has one sister and we are staying over her house. My mom and aunt hugged each other. The girl that opened the door was standing next to her. My gosh! I just realized it was my cousin Sophia. I went running towards her and hugged her.

"It's nice to see you again." I said while hugging her. She hugged me back and said, "Nice to see you again." We started talking about school and other things such as Donald trump and the wall he's going to be building.

"¿por qué no la llevas a tu quarto, sophia?" Her mom asked. Sophia nodded and took me up her bedroom. As we got in there I noticed pictures of a boy. He had blue eyes and brown hair. He looked fairly mature and very serious.

"Who's that?" I asked. I was very curious and  really wanted to know why she was obsessed with this guy. I'm not complaining  he does look good looking.

"Oh he's just a famous singer. Supposedly he's coming over here in Mexico for a concert." She said while going to her desk. Her walls were Beige and had a white tiled floor. Out the windows you can see it rain. I turn back to Sophia who sat down and plugged in headphones into her laptop.

"What are you doing?" I asked. She turned around her dark brown eyes looking back into my gray eyes.

"I'm going to show you how he sounds like." She said with an accent. I shook my head. I was tired and wanted to go to sleep.

"Maybe tomorrow. I'm kinda tired." I reply. She slightly frowned and nodded.

"Then you owe me a coffee tomorrow morning." She said. I giggle.

"Ok fine." I reply.  I lay down and turn off the lights.  Sophia then joins me in the bed. She turns off the lamp and it goes pitch black.  I slowly close my eyes and fall asleep.

Prologue

Hey guys hope you enjoyed chapter of Distance between us. I'll be taking turns on writing the chapters of the two books. For example today I wrote a chapter for this book. Then he next day I'll write one for Top secret. Then the next it will be distance between us. I hope you understand and thank you for reading.
