So this isn't really the first chapter but this is really what the story is all about. So basically Arnold, this really nerdy kid, that only has two friends, Carl and Rosie, and is not very popular. Then when he goes home, his neighbor who kinda hates him is surprisingly the most popular girl in school's grandfather.
Amber is like this like that one girl in those clique movies or shows you see on TV or something, Smart, pretty, everyone loves her, and all that jazz(I'm so corny I'm sorry)but she has had quite a rough time growing up.
Arnold's neighbor who is Amber's grandfather is really just as old guy who doesn't get along with anybody and he just kind of hates everyone except Amber because he's like the only thing he has left of his daughter which is a long story and you'll figure that out later in this book.
Carl is a natural-born bookworm. Everywhere you see him he's either reading a book or eating pizza it's that crazy. They always make fun of him because he's always in the book and when something happens he always shakes his head and twitches his eyes because he gets so nervous or freaked out or excited. Carl has his really really huge crush on Rosie who is another one of Arnold's best friends. And Rosie kind of knows it because it's very obvious.
And finally we have Rosie. Rosie is this tomboy-ish nerd who has two best friends who are boys. Basically she has five brothers, three who are older than her and two who are younger than her. She's the only girl in her family and her mother died when she was born. She's never really spent time with a girl until she needs Amber and I kind of become really good friends(that's all I'm going to say no spoilers whatsoever)
Since I'm in school I'm trying to focus more on my school work so there's going to be very slow updates but when it comes to like school breaks or weekends I'm going to be writing a lot so just to let you know.
