Epilogue

I stumbled off the Shadow Roads and into Caeleb’s apartment, barely conscious.

“Caeleb!”  I yelled, knowing he was my only hope.

“Aurelia, what have I told you about-“

He stopped dead when he saw me, frozen mid-sentence. I can’t say I blame him, after all, my left shoulder and left side were drenched in blood from being shot with iron bullets, which were slowly killing me, but the blood loss was speeding it up substantially.

I was making my way out of Lady Lilly’s Tea Gardens, when I was shot, by changeling, no doubt. I would have to ask October about this. I stumbled forward a bit and cracked my half-blood companion a grin before my legs gave out and I fell to the ground. My eyes were closed, but I felt Caeleb bring me into his arms.

"Come on Aurelia, keep your eyes open. Don't you dare die on me,"

Those words were the last thing I heard before I blacked out and felt myself die.
