At Mari's school art students were not considered popular.  She was a year ahead and that helped nothing, she was already invisible and being an art student would make her nonexistent. The only tine she was ever acknowledged was when she was with her best friends Jessica and Lydia. Jessica was captain of the cheer team and Lydia was star on the girls varsity soccer team, then there was Mari she tried to fit in but it was always so hard. Whenever the three were out Jessica and Lydia were always recognized and then pulled away. Mari's parents didn't approve of her pursuing art and wanted her to go into the medical field. But she wouldn't give up art was her escape from the world. Whenever something bad happened she would tun to art, she couldn't think to give that up.

The week was just like any normal week, getting pushed around and accepting it that's how it was  for Mari. She hated school the only good part was her friends and art class the rest was just awful. Little did Mari know that what happened next would change everything. She was walking in the halls and next thing she knows Lydia comes running at her.

"Mari! Mari! Guess what?" She said out of breath.

"What Lyds?" Mari said, she had to get to class soon and she didn't like being late.

"Guess who just got you invited to Matt Johnson's party! Am I the best or am I the best?" Lydia exclaimed.

"No! What! Are you insane! There is no way I'm going!" Mari said, she was freaking out, that was like a social death wish.

"Jake will be there,"Lydia tried to bargain.

Jake Greene was the Captain of the basketball team. He was one of the most popular guys in the school. All the girls liked him and Mari was no exception. The best thing about him was he wasn't the stereo typical jock, he was nice to everyone.

"Fine" Mari gave in.

"Yay, this will be so much fun. I cant wait to tell Jessica!" Lydia squealed.

"Great now can I get to class?" Mari asked she was only 2 minutes away from being late.

"Yeah, yeah" Lydia rolled her eyes "get to class, I'll text you the details."

Through out the day Mari kept hearing who was going to the party or who wasn't. She wasn't looking forward to it, but, Mari knew Lydia would never let her hear the end of it if she didn't go. The party was that night, it was one of those day where school went by so fast that now it was the end of the day and the Party was in exactly 6 hours. When she got home Mari went to get a snack but as soon as she was about to sit down the doorbell rang.

"What now" Mari groaned as she unwilling opened the door.

"Hi, so we only have five and a half hours and we need to work quick..." Jessica rambled as she walked in.

"You do hair, I do makeup, and we both pick out the dress" Lydia joined in.

"Hello to you too" Mari rolled her eyes.

Before she could even say another word Mari was dragged up to her room by her friends. Not wasting a second the girls got to work, after 30 minutes of arguing over an outfit the three girls finally agreed on one. It was a pink top, with a light blue skater skirt, and some grey vans, Mari drew the line at anything other than vans. Once she got done changing Lydia started the makeup, while Jessica started on the hair. By the time all three were done it was an hour till the party.

"Can we at least order some pizza before we go to this stupid party?" Mari asked.

"Fine but don't mess anything up" Jessica warned.

Once they had gotten the pizza the girls talked and gossiped until the pizza was gone. Mari was secretly wishing that they would lose track of time, but her wish was not granted.
