Chapter 5

   After school, I have cheer practice, I throw myself in the beachers, Carley had a funny looked in her face. Her eyes were bright, and sparkles at me.

Today we found out who is the captain of the cheerleading team. She said, looking straight at me. My heart skipped a beat. I hardly thought about that all day. The news suddenly got to me. Its today, I quickly grabbed her hands, shaking her playfully.

Yes, coach been saying it for the past two weeks.

Everyone knows, it's either be me or Asia Donnigan for captain of the cheerleading team.

Every cells in my body is terrified of the results! I am certain, she will get it. To distract myself from worrying, I grabbed Carly's hand and head to the middle of the court to stretch. Carly is the loud mouth out of all my friends, she give me a mouth fall while stretching our legs. Carly stops talking. I can not hear myself think. She mumbled sorry. She is easily offended, i could see it after she became all quite. I grabbed her hands, look I am sorry. I think Asia Donnigan will get it! Then her eyes, got wider, her jaw hung open, and she began laughing hysterically, and throw her arms around me.

You said as, its Asia. she hitting the floor, as if it's going to help her control her random sense of rumor.

"wooow, you're making fun of my accent i teased, some friend you are."

Ladies, gather around please, the cheer coach yelled as she gather her papers together. All us with sparkly eyes stood quietly as coach announce the captain of the cheerleading team. Carly squeeze my hands. Then A resounding yahoo was heard throughout the gym court, this did not make any sense whatsoever, I've been on top of my game, i've never missed a practice or a single football game, then I became aware that I am the one who has gotten the title of captain of the cheerleading team as everyone surrounds me with applause, Asia Donegan was glued to the same spot unable to move, she was furious, staring at me up to bottom, she sarcastically walked up to me after a long time and whispered, congrats, then casually pumped passed me, and run to the bathroom.

That night as I was eating dinner, alone with my family, everyone glued to their phones, including my parents, I got a group text from friends that reads, "congratulation on becoming the captain of the cheerleading team, Nora Belle 00XXXXXX000Xx!!!" along with a cheerleader selfie. I quietly smile, My parents looked up from their phones and asked, Did you say something? Nop, barely making eye contact. This is normal in my family, we don't talk much about our day, it's not us, it's the technology that made us so addicted. May I be excused

I found myself in Nathanaels front door,I ranged the doorbell 3 times before I heard footsteps I patient waited, distracting myself with my fidget spinner, the door opened halfway, he peeked out, Hi i said. He forced a fake smile. His blond hair is messy, he had on some oversize sport shorts with a hoodie on. His face looked like his just gotten up from sleeping. I am sorry about what I did, I deeply regret it. He frowned, adjusting his eyes to the light. He did not say anything.

What do you want he asked. I wanted to hang with you, the expression on his face change, he looked emotionless, I have my Xbox hooked up he spoke up, and my Wii. he let me in, his living room is spotless as always, bigger pillows for decoration on each side of the coach, his cat rub itself against my leg purring, demanding for attention. Snowball likes you he said, where is napoleon? i cracked up. That story was intense he said as he looked over at his Xbox and Wii games all stacked up in nicely in a straight lines on top of each other. I Have minecraft, just dance, call of duty zombie X etc... we both agree on playing minecraft, I sat on his couch building houses, along with his guidance, we laughed shakily. At one point while we were chewing down on pb&j that he had made, he asked Nora Belle, are you happy with this life? My smile fall into a grin, i think so i said.

He took a sip of his drink and nodded ok.

We sat there in jagged silence, i quickly spoke up why? He didn't looked at me, I was sure he heard me, but he didn't respond, why I repeatedly asked,

He knows i hate being ignore, he do it to get under my skin.

He finally looked up, finish chewing his left over pb&j and looked at me with widen eyes.

He opened his mouth to say... Right now life is great for you, your pretty,having long dark brown curly hair that seem to bounce off your shoulders when you walk into a room. You are popular with a lot of friends. Everyone loves, some people actually would die to spend a day in your life.

He was staring deep into my soul, I didn't quite get why he was doing this. My heart sink a little.

What if one day you woke up and everything is different, the people who you thought would be there forever, suddenly don't have anything to do with you. You're just somebody who they use to know. I blink as the salty tears formed their ways into my eyes. I love you Nora, but sometimes I want to slapped the shit of you, for you to wake up and face reality, there was pleading on his voice He wasn't looking at me, but at his watch, he probably realized he had hurt me. We sat there quiety not saying much. I looked at him, to make sure he sees the damage he has caused, I got up, slowly walked to the door. The next few nights, I couldn't sleep, i kep replaying the words in my mind, I wasn't mad at Nathanael, to be honest I deserved that, I've done worst thing to him---me not wanting to hang with him around campus because I think he is a freak and strange. How could I be mad at someone who tries to warn me about certain things, I didn't understand? After that little accident, everything was cool between us again, he was being extra nice to me while we head to school. As first period approached we parted our ways again.
