"Mommy?"

"Yes sweetheart?"

"Can you sing me the song?"

"Of course I can. Anything for you."

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make happy when skies are gray.
You'll never know dear, how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away.

The other night dear, as I lay sleeping
I dreamt I held you in my arms.
When I awoke dear, I was mistaken
So I hung my head and cried

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey.
You'll never know dear, how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away.

I'll always love you and make you happy
If you'd only say the same.
But if you leave me, to love another
You'll regret it all some day.

You once told me, you really loved me
That no one would come between us.
But then you left me, you love another
And you've shattered all my dreams.

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy, when skies are grey.
You'll never know dear, how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away.
Please don't take my sunshine away.

"Mommy?"

"Yes?"

"Why do people love the ones who hurt them?"

"Well, some people deserve second chances, while others hand out second chances that aren't deserved."

"But why? They would get hurt again."

"Sometimes it's a misunderstanding that needs to be worked out. But yes, other times people get hurt again. It all depends on the people."

"Should I give second chances?"

"I think you should. But on the other hand, you should learn when to give them."

"When's that?"

"Well, it all depends on what the situation is and how it played out."

"That's too confusing."

"You'll learn soon enough with ease. I promise. But, you should go to bed it's almost 8:30 and you have school tomorrow."

"Ugh, but school is boring and I don't learn anything."

"We'll see about that, you're only in grade 1. Night Violet."

"Night mommy."

But it's true, why do we continue toxic relationships with others? Why do we keep giving second chances even though life will repeat itself and we end up broken again? Why do we give ourselves false hope that people will change even though we know very well they won't? We don't like to be hurt yet we let it happen again and again sometimes without even realizing it. It's time to put your foot down, enough is enough. Why keep letting these people control your emotions when you could be free of all the stress of them messing up again? Obviously if they aren't changing their actions after the forth saving throw, they clearly don't care enough to put effort into becoming a better them. Say goodbye to lame excuses and second chances. They aren't worth your time. Then again, if you leave, maybe they'll realize how much they depended on you to realize they need to change their ways and become independent themselves. Maybe they'll come back to you with a new and improved look on life. But to save them, to save your sanity. Leave, it will most likely do more help than hurt.
