Part 1

Chapter 1

My alarm has just sounded, my hand automatically hits the snooze button as pull the covers over my head. I'm back in my old bedroom, where s many childhood memories were made, I don't know if I can do this, get out of bed and start my life over again. Today is the first day of my senior year, I'm seventeen years old and I'm a widow.

Mum knocks on my door and opens it before I can answer. "Alissa it's time to get up and get ready for school."
"Mum I don't think I can do it, go back and face my friends." What I really mean is to go back and face all the memories we shared together.
"Sweetheart they're your friends, I sure they miss him too. They have been here all throughout summer. You're the one who has been turning them away. Plus it's your senior year, you need to finish school and move forward with your life."
"But I don't want to move forward, I want to go back. Can't I just finish school online?"
"No, that's not healthy, you have to stop hiding in this room. I have let you spend too much time in this room already. Come on please get up, I'm cooking breakfast this morning, besides you have to drive your sister to school." I lie there and look around my room, our wedding photo is on my bedside table. "Alissa, I am not leaving until you get out of bed."
"Ok, ok, I'll get up." I throw the covers back and drag myself to sit on the edge of my bed and smile weakly at Mum. She smiles back and leaves my room. I just want to hide under the covers forever, where I can get lost in my dreams and not face reality. I drag myself out of bed, more with need to use the bathroom than for Mum's sake. On my way out I collect my horrible Catholic school uniform from my wardrobe door.
