The sound of a single tear hitting the wooden floor caught my attention. I looked out the window and put my hand against it's chilling surface as more tears hit the floor. My parents died and I had no one to look after me, so I was put in a foster home a few years ago this day. I now live with the crazy old man and the kind old woman. They're not bad, they're just different. AA loud noise like a gunshot caused my feet to run towards the door before I processed what was going on. I ran down the stairs jumping over a few and ran into the living room that was aired with a thick smoke. "Is every one alright?" My foster dad laughed as he tried to wave some smoke away with a cough. "Yes we're alright (f/n). Thanks for coming down here, could you go get us a towel to help wave the smoke away?" "Um, sure." I coughed as I made my way to the bathroom before grabbing a few towels. I went back in and saw the smoke was a little lessened since my foster mom opened some windows. "Here's the towels." my mom ran over to me with a small smile gracing her lips. "Thank you dear." We started waving the smoke out before it got worse. After are arms were stinging and almost all of the smoke was gone, we sat down in the recliners. "So what happened?" "I got a little carried away again I guess. I'm sorry about that (f/n)." I gave him a pitied smile as he looked down. "Don't be sad, it's who you are. You are a crazy old scientist that has a bunch of energy and happiness. So, what were you trying to make?" His smile came back as he explained his portal idea to another dimension capturing my attention as mom went to go cook some lunch. "Do you think I could help?" his slender fingers scratched the back of his thin white hair. "I don't know. You have school and studies to keep up with." "Oh come on. I though you of all people would understand. School is just a place where you're expected to learn what someone else discovered. I want to discover." "Deal."

Mom came in with a sigh as she saw me helping put the portal back together. "Lunch is ready my scientists." "Okay." we replied in unison before continuing. "I'll be there in a moment mom, just hold on a bit." "Okay, I'll be upstairs reading the newspaper if you need me. And make sure he doesn't do anything crazy." Once her footsteps disappeared, we got up for a lunch break with some sandwiches.

"Do you know where the portal will go?" "Yes, because I used to live there. It's a realm called Serbif. It's similar to Earth but definitely more wild. I worked as the Queen's scientist before I left and met your mother." Not entirely believing him I worried a bit. "Well let's say the portal does work, and the government finds out, then what?" he gave me a smile. "Then I'm prepared to give up my life." "You can't just do that! What about mom and I? What will we do?" "Your mother knew this day would come where I would build this portal eventually, she knows what to do, and you have the option of going with her, or leaving. The portal will only work once more so you must decide. The government can't get through since it only works with those of the blood and the materials are from Serbif and will disintegrate once you go through. Don't worry about me, I don't plan on giving up my life that easily, and I have a plan that should work and reunite me with your mother. I have an idea that should get us both there where we can go to the Queen's castle and meet you." I stood up and looked at him. "I know I believe in fantasy and the such, but this can't be real. Just no." "Well lets finish the portal and find out then."

We got back to work as I watched him smiling the whole time. My heart felt like it was punching my chest as my stomach felt sick. "It's good to go." I looked at the small metal-like triangle in front of me. "Is it on?" "Not yet, let me go get your mother." he disappeared leaving me to look at it and worry. They both came back down and hugged me as tears brimmed my eyes from being scared. "It's alright (f/n). We'll meet you there. Now go." my mom told me as my dad hugged me. He took black ash from his pouch necklace he always wear and threw it on the triangle causing green, blue, and purple flames to rise. He hurriedly shoved a heavy backpack on me. "Here, these will help and take him." he shoved a small container in my hands that had a small blue blob inside. "You have a map, rations, water, clothes, all of the things you need. I love you." he kissed my forehead as I shook violently from all of the sudden reality of everything. "Now go." I quickly crawled in the portal, flames engulfing me without burning before I heard a loud bang and saw white as my ears rang.

I stumbled forward lazily before collapsing. Once I felt warm drops on my face I sat up and realized I had no clue where I was. It was starting to rain so I quickly took shelter in one of the big hollowed trees and tried to start a fire. I guess this is what all of my survival lessons where for. "This isn't the time to think about them. I have to hurry and proof this place. Wait a minute.." I opened the container as I examined the blue blob. "I don't understand what this is for. It is a creature?" I shakily reached my hand in there and poked it before quickly retracting my hand. Nothing happened until I saw something suddenly move causing my hands to drop the container and yelp. Thankfully it fell upside down so it was stuck inside the container still. I quickly searched my backpack and found a small paper in a glass bottle.

'Dear (f/n),

If you're seeing this, then you've met Blobby I hope. Feel free to name him something else. He follows commands easily and can help you on your way. He's a good boy, but has a tendency to cause mischief, hopefully he's mature enough now. Anyway be wary of the creatures, people, and locations you're in. I left you a journal I made that has most creatures with where they are located and what they do. That's all for now.

From,

Dad'
