Chapter 1

"First day of junior year" My mother yelled from downstairs "get up or you're going to be late Cassandra" "ughhh" I groaned getting up trying to adjust to the morning light coming through my bedroom window. I made my way to my closet to pick out some clothes, after a few moments of being indecisive I finally settled with a pair of black ripped jeans and a black tank top and topped it off with a little bit of makeup. Nothing like the other girls at my school that cake up their face like hookers. I look at myself in the mirror brushing my fingers through my brown hair "you can do this Cassandra put on a fake smile and just forget about last year" I smiled, grabbed my bookbag and headed downstairs ready to get this day over with already. I smile at my mother sitting at the kitchen table "Hey baby girl how you feeling today?" my mother asked me with a cautious tone not wanting to start a fight "mom I'm fine okay just stop asking me" I said irritated "but honey I still think you should talk to someone about it". "Mom I said I'm fine just drop it okay, I got to get to school anyways I'll see you later" I said angrily walking towards the front door "I love..." I shut the door before she could finish the sentence I grabbed my headphones, plug them into my phone, and started walking to school while humming along to the song. After about 10 minutes I was finally approaching the school when I felt someone grab my headphones "Hey asshole step off" I yelled before realizing it was my best friend Stella "Ouch! Someone's in a pissy mood" she said laughing "You should know not to interrupt my music time" I said laughing while playfully pushing her away from me "Well my bad Avery" she said while pushing me back "don't call me that, you know I hate that" I said playfully punching her arm " okay okay sorry Cassi so how was your summer?" she asked curiously "umm I guess it was okay look I really got to get to homeroom I'll see you later" I said nervously. I started running down the hall trying to find my class before the bell rang, next thing I know I'm on the floor "ouch nice move asshole" I said angrily "you're the one that bumped into to me genius" said a husky voice. I look up and see a short, yet built guy. No taller than 5'10. Strangely he was staring at me like I was something he lost 'HEY!! Assface, I'm talking to you." I get up and start to walk off. 'so, I don't even get an apology?' he asks. 'No because I don't have time to argue with someone who clearly wants to have issues. I'll deal with you later. I have to go to my homeroom." I walked away grinning because I knew I had the last say in it, but little did I know, we would meet again a lot sooner than I wanted to.

Alex Pov.

"come on Alex we're going to be late and I don't have time to wait on you" "relax James I'm almost done" while picking up some books and shoving them into my bag "come on dude we can't be late, it's the first day and we got to pick up our schedules at the front office" he said grabbing the keys and heading to the front door "if you're not outside in 2 minutes I'm leaving you" " I swear to god if you leave me I'll tell Davina you've had a crushed on her for the last 5 years" I said smirking knowing he wasn't willing to risk it "Alex seriously you want to pull that card just get in the car we're already late" he said while heading outside towards the car "alright dude I'm coming" I said following him outside I hopped into the car shutting the door "so do you think you'll find her?" he said curiously while starting the car and backing out of the driveway " I don't know man but we've been to every packs territory and if we don't find her here I don't know where else to look" I said while shaking my head "don't worry Alex we'll find her I promise" he put on some music and I started to zone out "I have to find you" as soon as we pull up to the school I hear the bell ring "shit I told you so" James mumbles "you do realize I can hear you right?" I said laughing "dude you really have to loosen up" while stepping out of the car and walking towards the school, "why are we best friends again" he says while running to catch me and playfully punches my shoulder "because every alpha needs his beta" I said while punching him back. We make our way to the front office when suddenly I start to smell sweet lilies with yet a hint of lavender but it soon starts to fade "JAMES it's her" I said excitedly. My wolf was getting anxious, "Alex relax your eyes are changing colors" he said while grabbing me by the shoulders trying to get me to calm down "it's not me man, its Blake I have to follow the smell before I lose it" I said while pushing him off me and turning to start running down the hall I first smelt her "Alex she's close I can feel it" my inner wolf says to me "I know Blake I can feel her to" "what if she doesn't like us Alex?" my wolf asked worriedly "don't worry Blake she's our mate of course she'll like us" I said reassuring him that wasn't going to happen. I started to smell her better now as if she was getting closer and closer to me I looked down for just as second and then BAM "ouch nice move asshole" she said angrily "you're the one that bumped into to me genius" I said in a deep voice trying not to sound weak. I looked down and seen a short, but yet beautiful girl with long brown hair and piercing green eyes "she's everything I ever dreamed of and more" my wolf says overjoyed. I'm speechless I can sense that she's angry but I just can't say anything "god her lips are so luscious I just want to" I snapped out of it when she's says 'HEY!! Assface, I'm talking to you." She gets up and starts to walk off. 'so, I don't even get an apology?' I say sarcastically 'No because I don't have time to argue with someone who clearly wants to have issues. I'll deal with you later. I have to go to my homeroom." She says irritated, I watch her disappear down the hallway "we found her Blake now we have to do everything in our power to protect her" "LAST MINUTE WARNING GET TO HOMEROOM NOW" a teacher yelled at me trying to get my attention "shit" I mumbled "my bad" I yell at the teacher while running down the hall.
