Chapter 1:

The Contest

Olyvia's POV:

"Baby you and me

Standing in the street

SINGING, SINGING, SINGING, SINGING

Midnight memories, oh, oh, oh, oh.

Anywhere we go never say no

Just DO IT,DO IT , DO IT, DO IT."

I belted out the last notes of One Direction's song Midnight Memories and smirked at my best friend next to me. One Direction had been my favorite band and also my best friend Maia's ever since they auditioned the X-factor. Just thinking of them made my breath short.

As I was catching my breath, the man on the radio announced that the 99th caller would get three front row tickets and backstage passes to their new tour, Where We Are. I've been looking at many websites online to find that they were also touring with a band called 5 Seconds of Summer, they were all very cute, but not quite Harry Styles cute!

After the man on the radio finished announcing the contest, my mouth dropped open. When the thought of those tickets circulated my brain, I quickly swerved the car to the side of the rode. Then, I yanked out my phone without hesitation and pointed excitedly at my friends pocket and looked at her. At first she was unsure what I was doing, but when she realized, Maia pulled out her phone and went straight to her speed dial. Maia and I do many of these types of contests, but have never won.

We both called once, but I was greeted with a beep, so I disappointedly redialed. When Maia's eyes grew wide and a wide grin plastered her face, I stopped the call and gave her a questioning look. She screamed at me, "M-my p-phone it's ringing!" I gasped and waited for someone to answer it.

A person did, but they quickly said 76 and hung up. I watched her face soften and then droop. I quickly picked up my phone and gave her a reassuring smile. "There still may be enough time to call again and win," I said enthusiastically. So, I dialed the number and waited.....

and waited.......

and waited...............

At the other end a man greeted me with a, "Hello, you are the winner of our One Direction Prize Package!" I gasped and started to breath faster I felt like my heart was about to give in and I would just die, right there. A small tear of joy rolled down my cheeks. Allie started to shake my arm, like she was in a spasm and screamed, "Holy shit! Olyvia! Olyvia! You're on the radio!'' I covered her mouth with my hand and gave her a large smile. Then, I turned my attention back to my phone. He said, "I just need to make sure you are 18, then you can claim your tickets."

Two months ago I actually turned 18, at exactly that age my foster mom kicked me out of the house. Yes my foster mom, both of my parents passed when I was 13. They got in a car crash caused by a teenager and his friends drunk driving after clubbing too hard. Maia was there for me my whole grieving period whole time and that was how we became so close. I'm actually glad I'm away from my foster home. I always felt like god-damn cinderella there. Always, cleaning, washing, vacuuming....As I was getting lost in thought, the man repeated his question. Embarrassed, I replied, "Uh, yeah! Um sorry, but yeah I'm 18!" "Okay then! I will have you come and pick them up if thats okay?" "Oh yes! Of course thank you so much!"

As soon as I ended the call, I turned to my Maia. We both screamed our heads off for 10 minutes, then fell back on our chairs giggling with stupid grins on our faces.
