Bulletproof in black like a funeral..
Friday
The school day had gone fast. Isak sat with me in lunch, despite my previous statement of only being a one time thing. Rose and I had gotten 1st place in the peer review Photography project. Mr. Oliver looked like he could almost cry when he gave a speech about how it was outstandingly vivid and personal.
When I got home my normal kid reality faded.
I wasn't excited for the fight, not that I ever was. If it was my choice I wouldn't be doing it in the first place. You see, my parents last wish was to leave me with Mason. My father was a street fighter too. While street fighting has glorious amounts of luxuries, it also has dark and ugly truths. If you're the top fighter you have endless amounts of enemies who consist of mostly rich powerful men. These men stop at nothing to get what they want.
Malphas.
I could never forget that name. It was the man who killed my father and mother.
It wasn't his real name, no one in the ring knew his real name. If they did he would be long gone by now. People such as myself had suffered his wrath and lost loved ones. He set quite a fitting name for himself. Malphas, Great Prince of Hell.
Mason took me in. Gave me a roof and food on my plate with no exceptions. I owe it to him to fight. He didn't force me to start, I wanted to. As soon as I was old enough for training I started. I was good since the beginning, taking guys 5x my experience level. It's been years since then, but I feel that I cannot pay my debt just yet.
I'll be done when I kill him. Ever since I started that's all I thought of. My parents would be able to finally rest in peace.
I would be able to live a normal life.

"Listen to me, kid." Mason said. His tone was too serious for my liking. "All bets are on her.. even our locals are choosing her. Don't hold back this time. I have a feeling she's not going to be an easy everyday scum."
I nod. It's not rare for the people to bet only on one fighter, but it was strange that the locals would pick her over me. That meant that she was well known and dangerous.
I didn't care that she was talented. I wasn't planning to lose.
"How long until it starts?" I glance at the crowed floor. It was beyond full at this point.
"15 minutes." Mason replies, patting my back and then ruffling my hair. "You got this, Zac. I know you do. You always do." With that he walks towards the entrance, where I assume Jorge is.

"WHO IS READY FOR.." Mason gives a long pause. He was always the dramatic one. "ALEC VS THORNS!"
The amount of yelling and whistling doubled today. They are indeed very ready. This thorns, whoever she is, has definitely won the popular vote. Not once has my name been shouted. While it brings an unusual spark of jealous within me, I can't help but smirk to myself and think how interesting this is going to be.
"Our local fighter with a 5 year winning streak.. ALEC!" Few cheers but far more booing. I get inside the ring, looking around for my opponent. "A never before seen in this ring fighter has joined us today.. THORNS!" Once again the loud yelling and whistle started.
Just who the hell was this girl?
She comes from the crowd, head hidden from view by a red robe. A hint of short blonde hair comes to light when she starts walking towards the ring and gets in, opposite of me. The crowd goes quiet when she begins to take off her robe, throwing it to them. They erupt again, but I stay there looking at her.. stunned. I couldn't believe what I was seeing, or if I was even seeing correctly.
It was.. Rose.
Rose from school. I knew she was badass but not to this level. Why was she here? What- Wait since when is she blonde? Wig?
"Lloyd?" She's taken a back, eyes wide with surprise.
"What are you-" I get cut off by Mason yelling, "START!"
Wait- I can't fight her. She's Rose. I don't wan't to hurt her.
She, however, didn't have the same thoughts. For the first time since I started, I got the wind knock out of me by a hard punch to my stomach. I fell to the floor, wincing at the sudden hit.
"Sorry, pretty boy. I have to win."
