"Katniss!" I heard Finnick whisper in the darkness of the arena.
"Huh?" I whispered back tiredly, semi-annoyed that Finnick had woken me up right when I was about to fall asleep.
"I... I have something to tell you." He replied
"What is it Finnick? About Mags, Annie?"
"No, uh... It's about you and I actually." I swear he sounded worried a tiny bit.
"Yes..." I motioned with my dirt covered hand for him to go on.
He glanced around the rainforest, although I'm not sure who or what for, Peeta, Johanna, and Beetee are all sleeping on piles of leaves on the ground, and as far as I know, there aren't any other victor tributes remotely close to us. I can barely see in the darkness, but Finnick is right next to me. My eyes struggle to stay open as he finally begins to talk again.
"I... I have been fairly in love with Annie for a long time, and would do anything to keep her safe..."
"Didn't you say this wasn't about Annie?" I questioned.
"Yes, however I think that I love her in the way that I want to protect her. I don't truly love her."
"Okay, so you don't think you love Annie anymore, and I'm very sorry. But what does that have to do with us?"
"That's the thing, I know you are in a relationship with Peeta... Or, at least, pretend you are. No doubt you have feelings for him..."
"Yeah, feelings I guess, but I'm unsure about the whole thing... I don't know how real it is." I answered cautiously.
"I love you Katniss." Finnick said in the tiniest whisper, as if a tiny breeze had blown by. I had no words for that moment, I simply stared into his ocean-blue eyes, transfixed by his quick statement. And that's when he leaned in, looking into my green eyes, smiled, with his perfect dimples appearing, and kissed me.

As his lips were pressed against mine, a million thoughts crossed through my head. What about Peeta, someone I was becoming confidant that I was actually starting to love rather then pretend to, who was sitting just a few feet away from me? What about Gale at home, who I also loved, however maybe in just a friend way? What about Annie, who surely couldn't handle finding out that her boyfriend, the only person who made her life stable, was likely leaving her. What would happen during the rest of our time in the arena? Wasn't Finnick a decent amount older than me? After thinking about this for what seemed like hours but must've been merely seconds, without answering any of my questions, I noticed that his arm was around my waist. And I was actually enjoying him kissing me. Maybe I did love Finnick. During training, I HAD pushed the feelings of how attractive he had been out of my mind. I kept kissing him until he moved away, and looked at me once more. I felt myself blush, although whether he could tell or not I didn't know.
"I'm sorry." He said, both smiling and speaking in that seductive way of his.
"No, don't be." I said "That was nice"
"Really? I mean, yeah, it was, but you really enjoyed that?" He stammered, it now being his turn to blush.
"Yeah, I did, which probably makes me a bad person... I mean, Peeta." And Gale, I thought in my head.
"Katniss." Oh boy, did I just realize how much I love how he says my name sometimes. When he isn't shouting it it sounds like Cat-nuss.
"You aren't... Well maybe you are doing something wrong, but..."
