Chapter two: flight

The next morning I awoke to the quiet rapping on my door. "(Y/n), you need to get up we have to leave soon, um." Deidara's voice was sleepy and laced with irritation. I laughed a little. Sasori must have gotten him up. I rolled myself out of bed and made my way to the closet then got dressed. I grabbed my bag and cloak then made my way out of my room, and drug myself down the hall to the bathroom. I ran a brush through my tangled mess of hair and tossed it into my bag. I brushed my teeth and added those necessities to the bag. I pulled my cloak on and headed to the kitchen. Deidara was gazing blankly into the open fridge when I walked in. "there's nothing to eat, un." he grumbled. I grinned at him as I grabbed a bagel from the counter.
"Eat a bagel." I said putting myself between him and the fridge. I grabbed the strawberry cream cheese and a water then scooted out of the way. I hopped up on the cabinet behind him and pulled a silver knife from the drawer between my legs.
"I don't want a bagel." he said shutting the door and turning around to face me.
"There're bananas." I said gesturing to the bunch on the counter to his left.
"I don't want that either, un." he smirked.
"How about one of kisame's blue berry muffins?" I asked as I spread the cream cheese on one side of my bagel.
"He hides them and its to early to look for them ,un" he complained.
"Lazy." I laughed. "they're in the second cabinet at the very top behind the bowls." he gave me a sly look then turned to retrieve the box.  He pulled out two then placed the box back in its hiding place. I bit into my bagel as he began unwrapping each treat. I proceeded in eating the rest of my breakfast as he finished his.
"your ready ,un" he asked as he buried the evidence beneath many layers of trash.
"yep, lets go." I said grabbing my bag and adding my water to it.
  We made our way out of  the hide out and into the darkness. The sun hadn't even begun to rise yet and only a few birds could be heard. We had only been walking for a few miles when Deidara broke the silence. "ugh! It'll take forever at this rate, un ." he grumbled and stopped. I came to a halt a little ways in front of him. He shoved his hand in the pouch at his side and pulled out a handful of clay that was in hailed by his palm. He clasped his hand shut and when he opened it again a small bird sat there.  He tossed it out in front of us and it developed into a bird big enough for the two of us.
"Okay, lets go, un" he said as he jumped onto its back. Id seen what he does with his art and I was determined to keep my two feet on the ground. "well come on ,un"  he said staring down at me. "no way. There's no way I'm getting on that." he gave me a strange look. "oh come on (y/n) just get on. We'll be there in no time." I backed up a few steps from the great bird. "I'm not getting on that. I don't do heights." I said defensively.  He hopped down and stood in front  of me. "come on, ill be right there with you." I gave him a worried look.
" I don't know, dei." he smiled and gave me some space.
"I wont let anything happen to you." I gave him a weary look but walked with him to his art. He leaped onto its back and I fallowed. The bird then came to life and picked our luggage up in its mouth. "ready, un?" he asked but before I could answer we were rushing up into the sky. My breath caught in my throat and I was forced back into him. I squeezed my eyes shut and gripped  his hand tightly. He caught my upper arm with his free hand.
" you okay, un?" he asked when the bird began to fly level.
"y..eah." I stumbled over my words as I spoke. "do you need to sit down, un?"  worry was concealed in his voice.
"no. just give me a minute." I took a deep breath  and stood back up right. The wind whipped through my hair and the sound of the birds wings were beautiful.
" (y/n) open your eyes. I want you to see this." he whispered over my shoulder. I pried my eyes open and gazed at the rising sun in front of us. The trees below us had yet to be graced by the dawns  light and were still enveloped by darkness.
"its beautiful."  I whispered taking a step closer to the beasts head. My hand and his hung in the air between us. He stepped forward so that he was right behind me again. "yeah it is, un." Our fingers intertwined  with each other and I never realized how well they fit together. I could feel the blush in my cheeks. "how much farther do you think we have?" I asked  staring at the deserted forest below.
"a couple of hours. We'll be there by lunch, un." "fantastic." I said sarcastically.
"what? Are you not having fun ,un?" he teased. "oh no. I love being scared to death." sarcasm imbedded in my tone.
"you really hate this don't you ,un?" I looked at him, his blonde hair flying behind  him.
" I don't 'hate' it. I'm just scared of falling." he laughed a little. "oh, I'm SO glad I amuse you." I spat and pulled my hand from his, not realizing till it was to late that I had no balance on the birds back. Two arms wrapped themselves around my waist and I wrapped  mine around his neck.
"you have really got to relax, un. I told you. I wont let anything happen to you up here, un." he said calmly as if nothing had happened, where as  I was still mentally freaking out. "uh, (y/n) your kinda chocking me." he chuckled. I quickly loosened my grip on his neck but didn't let go right away. "sorry." I said slightly embarrassed and dropped my arms to his. He slowly let go then held out his hand. I cautiously took it. "I'm not gonna bite, un." he grinned. An hour in we both got tiered of standing and sat down, but after a few minutes I fell asleep.

"(Y/n), wake up." Deidara's voice drifted into my dreams. I unwillingly opened my eyes. We were back on the ground (thank goodness) and were surrounded by trees.
"what?" I yawned and sat up. Blood rushed to my head and it throbbed painfully.
"it'll be to obvious if we fly into the village. We'll walk from here, un."

(Authors note: hidan won't be in the first few chapters but I assure you he's coming so don't worry!)
