As I watched Ase tear into Patrick in his human form, I saw some males that were loyal to him start to step forward. I understood why, their loyalty was to the Alpha, but they were older and often went against Grey's rules. Stepping forward I stared at them.
"If anyone of you take a single step into where she is doing what she deems right, you will be imprisoned for three days. Your wolves will be bound for one week. I dare you to take that last step. The Alpha has said she can do this, by interfering you go against his ruling." I finished right as we all heard the snap of his neck.
That sound always killed me inside, it was the sound of bones cracking to the point that they broke eventually. Just imagine cracking your neck multipul times and you'd understand the sound. I looked back towards Ase, and saw her laying on the ground in her human form, covered in the bastards blood. But, before I could move towards her, Eliza was there.
My mate, my beautiful, kind, and cunning Eliza. She walked Ase around the circle, the females all touching her. The pack link was going crazy with their voices. They were chanting her name. I spotted her looking at Grey and myself. She pointed to the pack house and I nodded on reflex. Not realizing at first I had just agreed to talk to her about something.
The pack slowly started to go back to their daily activities while five warriors dealt with Patrick's body. They would be the ones that would place him on different parts of our land to be eaten by wild animals. But, they would first move his body to the cells to allow the pups to come out again.
I jumped when a hand landed on my shoulder, "Come Luke, Ase needs to speak with us remember? I'm sure Eliza has her showered and dressed already. Let us go," Grey said to me and I nodded starting towards the pack house.
I wouldn't lie, walking into the house with Ase sitting where Grey normally did scare me quite a bit. She felt like her old self, she was radiating power. It surrounded her and it reminded me of the conversation Grey and I had just had.
"God, you look ridicules with that flower crown," I said laughing. My wolf was dying for me to get closer to her. He was saying, "Power, she holds power. Strong female, worthy of her mate."
It was funny to me how wolves knew who their mates were, but we- the human counterpart- had to find them. Maybe it was because if we found them to soon we might reject them. Shaking my head, I sat down next to Eliza and grabbed her hand.
"Shut it Luke. I think it's cute," Ase said with a smile. As Grey took a seat she took a deep breath. Gearing herself up for what she wanted to say. I tensed a bit, when she did this it meant that she was here for business and nothing else.
"We have to end the Breeder Policy, it's a medieval tradition. I started doing research on it last night and only a few packs still have it in effect Grey. It must stop." Grey looked like he wanted to say something but held back, we both knew she wasn't done. "You need to decide what type of Alpha you are going to be Grey. One that breaks from tradition, or one that causes a revolt. You know as well as I do, that the females of the pack do not wish for their daughters to become Breeders. I would rather be a rogue than go back to the cursed house." She said with a slight growl.
She was done, waiting for Grey's answer. When he didn't give one Eliza laughed, startenling all of us. Standing up my mate clapped. "Well said Ase!" She said and turned to her brother. "She is right, it is time to choose Brother. Be like our Father, or be you. Someone new, allow Ase to train the new pups. Or so help me I will take the Alpha position from you." She stared down at her brother with the sweetest smile but I knew she meant business.
As an Alpha herself, she had every right to stand where he did. She chose not to, letting it go to her brother. Grey stood up then and started pacing. He was worried, even I could see that. Not only as his best friend, but as his second.
Standing up I walked over to him and placed a hand on his shoulder, "They are right Grey. It's time to end it. Become someone who brings us to a new age. Just think of the Moon Goddess. If you do not change it, she could send her human counterpart that still walks among us."
I knew what I said would hopefully get to him. Anyone that was visited by the human that has lived for centuries was sure to be killed or put into their place. For someone that did not have a wolf, the woman was feared.
Grey sighed and nodded, "We will abolish it. But, we have to ease into it. Call the council, we must have them agree. If they do not we will keep trying. We will start the plans to demolish that house and move Ase into her own," Grey said. This caused me to look at Ase who was now standing.
She walked over to us and hugged Grey with a whispered thank you. I just hoped we wouldn't start a war within our own pack by doing this.
