I fell in love with you
But I don't know the words
Fall in love with your broken soul
Of anyone in the world
I just want you to know
That anything I seem to do
In the interest of myself
I just do it all for you
You let me go
You let me go
You let me go
Yeah I let you go
Oh don't you run away
Because you know I can't keep up
With your pretty eyes
And you notice just one thing
That I am who I say I am
And all of the others lied
I guess it doesn't even matter
At least I can say that I tried
You let me go
You let me go
You let me go
Yeah I let you go
I fell in love with you
But I didn't know the words
Fall in love with your broken soul
Of anyone in the world
You let me go
You let me go
You let me go
Yeah I let you go
MY OWN ANALYSIS:
So this is one of the more recent pieces I've written. I wrote it in about 20 minutes. This is the only draft and it may change over time. The lyrics are very literal while the title is very metaphorical and personal to me. The name of the piece ("Brownies and Typewriters") is not used anywhere throughout. Yes, this piece is about a girl before anyone thinks otherwise. The piece is a personal commentary about struggling to both express and receive love.
The opening ("I fell in love with you / But I don't know the words") sets the tone for the rest of the piece. The repeating section of "You let me go / You let me go / You let me go / Yeah I let you go" is referring to feeling left out to dry, but in the end, I'm the one who should've played my hand differently. "I guess it doesn't even matter / At least I can say that I tried" is a commentary on giving up on this situation and letting all of the feelings disappear.
Now the first thing I noticed about this girl were her beautiful brown eyes. I think I just revealed what a part of the title is (Brown+ies = Brown+eyes... you can try to figure out the other part on your own). Who cares though? Let's move on. "Oh don't you run away / Because you know I can't keep up / With your pretty eyes" is the line where I reminisce on the time I first saw her.
To be completely honest, the reason I'm posting this is because it will probably never be released as a song. I might just keep it as a piece of writing. That being said, we shall see what the future holds in store!
