III. Love Kills

I want you to notice, I'm not doing fine

Just afraid of the hurt that follows me all the time

I just left you for dead at the corner of the avenue

You begged for forgiveness as my love was killing you

But love just kills all

No one can stop the fall

When the fall doesn't catch you

There's nothing more that I can do

You took me for granted, as good times fade away

I sat on my front porch hoping for a brighter day

Sing a song about heartbreak as the pipers play along

I think you don't know this, you've got me all wrong

But love just kills all

No one can stop the fall

When the fall doesn't catch you

There's nothing more that I can do

I don't want it to stop but something is holding me from

Everything that I want and it may seem easy to some

That I am not who I am as the world collapses around

I'm a tree in the woods, if I fall do I make a sound

But love just kills all

No one can stop the fall

When the fall doesn't catch you

There's nothing more that I can do

MY OWN ANALYSIS:

QUICK DISCLAIMER: NO, THIS PIECE IS NOT ABOUT ME, IT'S JUST A STORY FROM ANOTHER PERSON'S PERSPECTIVE.

So this piece is my own commentary about how love sucks sometimes. I've lied to people about the meaning of this piece to keep it a little bit confidential, but I'll come clean now.

I am a massive fan of using the opening phrase ("I want you to notice, I'm not doing fine")  to set the tone for the remainder of my pieces. The person in the piece just wants love to be reciprocated and feels hurt when it's not.

"I just left you for dead at the corner of the avenue / You begged for forgiveness as my love was killing you" is just talking about a viewing of a one-sided relationship.

"But love just kills all / No one can stop the fall / When the fall doesn't catch you / There's nothing more that I can do" is just talking about how one person fell for another and the other person didn't reciprocate that. The fall doesn't catch the person to bring them down into love.

"You took me for granted, as good times fade away / I sat on my front porch hoping for a brighter day" is talking about the idea that being used for something was a good time because of the positives of being in a relationship.

"That I am not who I am as the world collapses around / I'm a tree in the woods, if I fall do I make a sound" is just about feeling like after ending a relationship with someone, you lose certain people in your life because you don't spend as much time with them while you are in a relationship.

The overall message I am trying to make with this piece is that love is a great thing and an awesome part of life, but it can end up killing plenty of relationships that you have with people as well.
