Chapter 1

It was an easy Sunday morning and the fog outside Liam's window was dense. As his alarm went off at 6:45am, he rolled out of bed. He slowly walked across his room to his window and looked outside, "Another foggy day. I hope it becomes sunny today." Liam said as he turned around and headed for the stairs.

After he walked down the old creaky staircase he turned the corner into the kitchen to see his mom humming and making breakfast happier than normal, "Morning sunshine! Did you sleep okay?" Liam's mom said excitedly. Liam noticed that she kept looking at the front door and he couldn't help but wonder what she was hiding. She was never a very good liar, "Mom what's going on?" Liam asked curiously ignoring his moms questions. "It's nothing hunny, I made you breakfast though!" said Liam's mom with a smile, from ear to ear, on her face. "Thanks for the breakfast mom it's great," Liam said with a mouthful of food. In between bites Liam said to his mother, "Mom you've never been a very good liar. Did you plan something for spring break or what?" "Oh come on! Can't you let me plan a surprise without you figuring it out?" she said shocked.

"Mom, I only figured out that you planned something, I never figured out what you planned." Liam said laughing with a smile on his face. She looked at her son and just smiled, thinking to herself that he. Would make a great lawyer one day. To bad he hated lawyers, he wanted to be a dancer. He was an incredible dancer. He could do everything from break dance to ballroom. Liam's mom loved to see her son smile and promised herself that she would do whatever she had to, to keep it there. "I guess you're right." said Liam's mom smiling widely. " So mom what's my surprise?" said Liam with a smirk on his face. With the amount of shock and surprise that crossed his moms face, he couldn't help but laugh uncontrollably. "What! I am not going to tell you! That's the point of a surprise!" shouted Liam's mom. Liam tried to hide the smile on his face but thinking about what he was going to say next made his smile turn into a broad grin with muffled laughter. Trying and failing to hide his laughter Liam said, "Mom, you always cave you know that. I just have to make that face and..." Liam's mom interrupted while trying to contain her laughter and said, "No, no no don't you dare make that face!"

As Liam makes the face his mom begged him not to make she caved, "Fine! Boy you are just like your dad.". Liam's mom said turning back to the stove. *Knock*Knock*Knock* "Liam can you get that?" asked his mom smiling to herself knowing who was behind the door.

Liam wondered why his mother didn't cave like she normally did as he walked across the frigid tile floor towards the front entrance. Liam opened the door to see a familiar face staring back at him. Anyone in his unusual situation would be just as shocked. "Hey son! How you been?" Liam's dad asked opening his arms for a big hug. Still in his initial state of shock all that came out of his mouth was, "Dad" before hesitantly shuffling into his dads embrace for the first time in three years. ~Three years ago Liam's dad was deployed to Afghanistan, finally he's home.~ When Liam's mom heard him say "Dad" she froze, that wasn't who she was expecting.
