How adorable is that?

You peered around the door of one of the stable's holdings. The horse was sticking it's nose into a small pile of hay, pleased at it's findings. You see a medium-sized dog trotting around and sniffing everything he sets his eyes upon. He appears happy, his tail wagging and panting. You had no idea if it was a male or not, but you just assign a gender until you can find out. If you will find out.

After grooming one of the horses, who's name seemed to escape you, you were leading the horse back into it's stall when you heard a bark. After peeking outside, you saw the dog approaching your area. You'd been hiding in the stall since. You never knew if it could be dangerous, considering the ravenous animals that lurked in the surrounding woods. Hell, you could have sworn a deer had snarled at you once.

You had been contemplating on whether or not you should approach the wild canine, wondering if it would react badly upon seeing you. But his fluffy coat painted with many colors and splotches was very tempting. His ears perked up as you stepped forward. You took small, hesitant steps towards the dog, your hands at your sides. He stuck his nose in the air towards you and sniffed furiously as he stumbled backwards a bit. He was most likely trying to assess if you were a threat to him or not. After a few minutes of staring each other down, he ran at you. You shrieked loudly as he barrelled you down to the ground.

But surprisingly, you had no reason to be afraid as he began to lick your face as his fluffy tail wagged furiously behind him. His paws pressed onto your chest uncomfortably, but you began laughing despite that. Your hands reached up to pet his soft, slightly grimy fur. As you got a good look at the dog, you realized it had stunningly vibrant eyes. You began to inspect the dog with awe and lifted him up with some effort, and realized that you had been right in guessing his gender. He was all male.

You sat there for a few more minutes when the sound of loud footsteps approaching reached your ears. You looked up from your fixation to see the unmasked Connor walking towards you. His tan skin almost glowed in the sun, and his hair hung in wavy brown locks. You took a moment to appreciate his appearance, as you mostly saw him with his hood up as he left. You were a little disappointed that you didn't get to see him in this state often. His breathing was slightly labored as he looked around before his eyes settled upon you. He frowned and then spoke.

"I heard a scream. Are you okay?" He asked, with a slightly worried tone. You blush, and nod.

"I'm fine," you answer, your fist closing on some of the dog's fur. "I was just a bit startled. That's all."

He nodded, accepting your answer, before his eyes seemed to zero in on the dog in your lap, still trying to lick at your face while you desperately tried to avoid his slobbery tongue. "Why is there a dog on top of you?" He asked, bluntly. You couldn't help but grin.

"He wandered over onto the property." You reply. He frowns at you and crosses his arms.

"He could have been aggressive. You could have been hurt." As he says this, you hug the dog against you a little protectively.

"But he isn't. He's rather sweet, don't you think?" You look down at the dog's face and crinkle your nose as his tongue swipes upon it. You wipe a little of the saliva away and look back up at Connor, who's once condescending face was now softer. His arms had dropped to his sides. "Would you mind if we kept him here?" You dared to ask.

He stood for a moment, before walking over to you and kneeling down next to you and the dog. The dog watched Connor speculatively, and Connor returned the gesture. Connor reached out and grabbed the dog by the snout. The dog simply tried to lick at Connor's hand, and failed miserably. After a few more simple interactions between Connor and the dog, the Mohawk Indian looked at you and let a small smile on his face. "I don't see why not. He will do a good job of protecting the Homestead while I am away."

In your happiness, you squealed and leaned over the dog to throw your arms around Connor's neck and squeeze lightly, squealing out a 'Thank-you'. Pulling away, you plant a kiss right on his lips. After a few moments, you realize what you had done and your face burned bright red. Peeking at Connor shyly through your hair, you realize he is in a similar state; wide-eyed and red-faced. He coughs, clearing his throat. Standing up, he brushes off his robes. He sends a quick glance at you before his dark face grows flushed and he looks away.

"You're welcome." You hear him mutter as he stumbles off in a hurry. You sit, a bit dumbfounded, before bursting into giggles like a young school-girl. You hug the dog to your chest, and he, who has no idea what's going on, licks your arm happily. You lovingly press a kiss on the top of his head, between his ears. He lets out a small bark of appreciation.

Yes, he would do just fine.
