Flames leapt from building to building, tearing through the lower village. Screams erupted from every angle. And in the middle of it all was the traitor, Sir Belepor. He simply stood there, smirking as the knights he had gained the loyalty of, formed a protective barrier around him, affectively blocking my father's honourably knights from getting to him.
But worst of all, I had no power to stop any of it.
I was being held by both arms by to of the rouge knights, forced to watch as the kingdom my ancestors built from their heart and soul, to be ripped and burnt to piles of dirt.
"This is what happens when I don't get what I want, Balinor!" Belepor screamed at my father, who currently laid helpless, his blood mixing with the dirt beneath him.
"I have never given what you asked for to anyone, not even my own family." My father whimpered.
"I am not anyone." Belepor sneered, and crouched down so he could come close enough to whisper something in my father's ear, and to ensure no one else would be able to hear. Yet, despite his actions, he said loudly: "And now your son shall pay the price."
Belepor motions for the knights holding me to bring me forward, and I was pushed so roughly, that I tripped, unable to catch myself. I landed a foot away from my father, gasping at the sudden lose of air at the impact.
"Tell me, Merlin, what would hurt you most." When I didn't respond, Belepor slid his sword from it's holster and brought it to my fathers neck, but before the blade could reach his flesh, anger swallowed me whole, and a fierce power that I'd been holding back finally snapped through it's barricade. I felt my eyes burn as the power exploded, and the knights that formed a barricade around Belepor flew back, dragging the traitor along with them.
As quick as I could, I scrambled to my feet, racing to help my father stand, then supporting him as we clumsily ran from the disastrous scene that engulfed my kingdom.
It seemed like hours before we stumbled across the border walls, were a small group of villagers had escaped to.
"Keep him safe." I said as I passed my barely conscious father to one of the older men.
"No, my son." Muttered my father as he thrashed weakly against the mens grip.
"I have to father." I whispered as his hand limply brushed mime in an attempt to stop me.
I took a step towards the glowing walls of my home, until I heard my father speak in the old language.
"Father, no!" I screamed and I began to bolt. But I was to late. I heard the strong beat of leather wings, and as I turned my head to face the inevitable, the blazing heat over took me.
Hey amazing people!
So this is my new Merlin fanfic and I hope you like it.
Also, I've read a lot of Prince Merlin fanfics, but I realised that I'd never read one with the plot in this kind of way, so I thought I'd try it out.
It you liked this chapter, please comment. Don't be a ghost. I love to hear what you guys think. Also, if you have any tips for me I'd love to hear them. If there are any parts of the chapter that you didn't like or I didn't write so well, or maybe it was a spelling mistake, I do appreciate comments to help me fix that.
Also, I know the chapter was really short, but don't worry, I will try to make future chapters longer, and this one was just an intro.
Love you guys so much, and thanks for reading.
