Malia's mother, Corrine wasn't an... involved element in her life...
So her father's sister became her mom and her kids, her siblings.
So when Talia offered to take her and cousin Cora to the park, Malia couldn't be happier.
Girl time was long overdue.
Cora read on top of the slide.
Talia watched them from the bench.
Malia spun on the spinning wheel.
"You could have stayed at home if you just wanted to read."
Malia said and fell down.
"Be careful!" Talia called.
"I am!" Malia answered.
"We live in a house with loud, rough boys who destroy everything when doing "pack training". This the only quiet time I get." Cora said looking up from her book.
"Suit yourself but we aren't exactly princesses either." Malia said.
"I'm as tomboyish as they come but that is too much testosterone for one girl to take." Cora said frustrated. Malia laughed. Someone approached Talia with two little kids in tow.
"Claudia! Just the woman I wanted to see. And you brought the little ones." Talia said warmly,
kissing their cheeks.
"Well, you know. They're joined at the hip. You two go play with the girls while the grown ups talk." Claudia said warmly and they ran off.
"Hey, Cora. Ooh! Call Of The Wild.
I finished that one." Scott said cutely.
"And if you ruin the ending,
I'll hurt you." Cora said half joking.
"Wouldn't dream of it!" Scott said quickly. "She's so weird."
"Isn't that why you love her?" Cora asked watching Malia on the jungle gym just being cute.
"What? No! I don't love her. Why would you even think that?" Scott asked defensively. Malia waved to him from the top of the monkey bars.
Scott looking awestruck and waving back at her. She gave a cute smile.
"No reason." Cora said sarcastically.
"What are you doing?" Stiles asked.
"Playing. What's wrong with you?" Malia asked hanging from her ankles.
"Can I ask you a question?" Stiles asked shyly.
"Okay." Malia said and let herself fall.
"Malia don't do that!"
Talia yelled worried. Heart racing.
"What? I landed on my feet."
Malia said. "I'm fine."
"You kids are going to give me a heart attack one of these days." Talia said.
"Sorry I scared you. So what do you want to know?" Malia asked.
"How do you make a girl like you?" Stiles asked almost sadly.
"I don't know. They do or they don't. You can't make girls do anything." Malia said. Stiles looked sad.
"But I really want Lydia to like me. She's beautiful and smart and...perfect." Stiles said.
"Just be yourself. She'll like you eventually. I like you." Malia said.
"You do?" Stiles asked surprised.
"Uh huh. Wanna be my boyfriend?" Malia asked sweetly.
"Sure." Stiles shrugged.
"This won't end well." Cora sighed.

And thus a relationship was born!
Stiles and Malia dated for 2 years after that. Malia being warm, sweet and a little rough but still a good girlfriend.
Stiles was somewhat affectionate toward her. Sensitive to her needs but over all indifferent.
Everything was working until...

"I love you, Stiles." Lydia said.
"You do?! Finally?" Stiles asked.
"Yes, Stiles. I know you're with someone else now but I can't help myself. I finally realized I love you. Tell me you haven't given up on me." Lydia said. Malia saw the interaction in the computer lab.
"Never. I've always been waiting for you." Stiles said and kissed Lydia.
"Why are you just standing here?" Cora asked her cousin.
She saw for herself and charged in.
"Really, Stiles? You have a great girl like my cousin and you're diving down this chlamydia well?"
Cora asked angrily.
"This just happened." Stiles said.
"I don't give a crap! Why would you hurt her when she's been nothing but loyal to you and you know Malia loves you?" Cora asked while Malia stood outside. Listening.
"Because I don't love her! I don't think I ever did...It's always been Lydia." Stiles said. His words catching up.
"Well if that's how it is, then go ahead.
We don't need you." And with that, Cora left. Only to find her cousin gone. She looked all over school and wasn't answering her phone and Cora was officially panicking.
Malia ran home crying.
"Malia? What happened? Is everything okay?" Talia asked.
"No." Was all she had to say before skulking to her room and shutting the door. Never coming out for the rest of the night. Never speaking for
two weeks. Just silently reflecting.
That was the day something snapped inside of her. Changing the once, sweet, funny, warmhearted girl.
