"What is?! Speak! Tell us!" I screamed at him. "Inu stop!" Grant said looking at me. I felt guilt crawling up me. I calmed down." Sorry." Jack finally got a hold of himself just enough to get the words out of his mouth. "She's-she's she's gone." Jack looked horrify while the words came out of his mouth. I was surprisingly happy but my expression seamed shocked then joy. I looked at Jack and then at Grant. His eyes where closed, that meant he was thinking. I touched the dirt grave remembering when we buried her. It was 4:00 p.m when we decided to head home. We dropped of Jack and Grant walked me home." Do you really think Miku is out there?" I asked breaking the silence between us.
"Mmmmm. Maybe.""I mean, Grant, I know what I saw. It was a short figure and seamed to have cat ears! Miku has to be here. Right?"
My eyes looked at his green eyes. He grabbed my hand and said," Inu, she could be alive but if she is, there has to be a reason I mean I-" His words cut off by a the short figure I saw. The figure was about a foot shorter than me, wearing a white cloak with gold Metallic around the edges. They had black combat boats that went to knee length with gold shoe lace. The cloak covered their head so you could not see anything but their legs and lower. I got into my fight stance and so did Grant and we both had our wands out.
"Who are you and what where you doing breaking my roof!"The figure grabbed their wand and tilted it's head at us as if it was looking at us with it's eyes. Their wand looked exactly like Miku's. I growled at them.
"Show your self!" I screamed at them.
"Te? Now what fun would that be?" They said. That did not sound like Miku at all!
"What game?" Grant asked.
"Ahuhuhuhuhu~ It's called War. We would go to a place only I know of and we would play there."
"What is War?"
"Ahuhuhuhuhuhu~ You never heard of it before? Well, it's like chess but more confusing and realistic."
"Where is this place?"
"I'll show you dearie."
Right after they said that a puff of purple smoke telaported us to a strange garden.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------"Waa-"
"We're here"
It looked some thing like this.
"Ok the rules are; If you win I will share my identity. If I win then you have to give me that sword." I looked down at the sword. I was pretty good at Chess so I had no worries.
"Ok. Deal." We shook hands and she got on the right side of the field and me and Grant got on the left.
I
t was our turn first and usually the first person to go is more able to win.
"D-2 to D-4"
The game piece moved at my command and went to D-4.
"G-4, forward." And at that command it moved three spaces. I was shocked. Pieces that moved on it's own with out a specific command. I bit thumb nail trying to think.
"Knight to C-3."
"F-7 forward."
"E-2 to E-4."
"F-5, take her piece."
"C-3, take E-4."
"C-3, take E-4."
"H-2 to H-3."
"Knight, take H-3."
"Queen, H-5. Check."
"F-2 to F-4." It didn't move. I repeated it again.
"F-2 to F-4." Again it didn't move.
"I knew it." Grant said. I turned around.
"What do you mean?"
"They key to this game is that, sometimes, the pieces won't move.
No soldier would gladly go a place where he knows he'll be killed. Only a level of morale that borders in madness could make them do that. Then you can't sacrifice any of your pieces."
"What will you do? Your running out of time." they said.
I turned around looking at them. I kept biting my thumb nail until I said," Knight, take H-7." Again, it didn't move. I was startin g to get mad. I sighed and finally said,"A-2 to A-3." It moved. But I knew it wouldn't be long until something bad happens.
"Bishop, forward. Take the enemy knight." And once she said that the piece hit my knight and I watch as it turns to dust.
"D-4 to D-5." It didn't move. " A-3..." Suddenly the sunset turned to night. It was game over."Bishop... Mi-Miku... I-I'm sorry! Miku... I lost." Tears where rolling down my face. "I'm sorry..." Grant hugged me from behind. He kissed me on the head. I felt like I lost my whole life to this game. The tears came hard, I forgot the figure was still there watching me. I turned and returned the hug to Grant. I heard the figure sigh.
"H-hey look, who ever Miku is I'm pretty sure she would forgive you ok?"She said kinda guilty."sigh, Hey kid come on I got things to do..." I kept crying holding tighter to Grant. After that I sighed and turned around, looking at the winner. I grabbed out Miku's sword and held it in the air. It floated to the winner. They grabbed it and put it in their inventory. Before she put it away I asked," Please. Please take care of it for me. It belonged to someone really special. I don't know if you ever lost some one or why you fell from my roof, but just please take good care of it, please?" They sighed and put in their inventory. "Heh, it's been a while since I played this game, ya'know. It's nice to have someone to play with. sigh. How about I do something for you. You where being a good sport, even know you just lost and had to give something that important up, you still kept your word and gave it to me. It's right you knew who you played against, right?" I nodded. They tilted their head up and with their hand the pulled back the cloak and let it flow behind them. They smiled," Are you happy with your results?"
