Being a Grimm was hard enough, but when you have a teenage daughter who is also a Grimm, it makes things even harder. Nick Burkhardt was living happily in Portland with his little girl, Kassandra Burkhardt, who he had with his unmarried girlfriend Juliette. He adored his child with all his heart, and even more than he ever thought possible when she found out she was a Grimm. He has trained her to fight well when it comes to wesen and other people. They bonded over the similarity of being Grimms as well as others that are countless. When Kass was born, Nick and Juliette had decided to make Hank Griffin and Eddy Monroe the godfathers to Kass. Nick has a good job in Portland working at the Portland Police Department. He was a homicide detective and a valuable Grimm. Beside that, As Nick goes to work, he is in for a surprise that is considered a great opportunity for his career but has a consequence.
Captain Sean Renard awaited in his office as his two most trusted Detectives began their day at the office. He had major plans for the both of them. He knew exactly what he was setting them both up for and knew exactly where and why he was sending them to the place that they were going to. Sean called in his best sergeant to bring in the two detectives. With a smirk on his face he waited for them to enter. Sergeant Wu had gone out to let Detective Burkhardt and Griffin know that the captain wanted to see both of them in his office. Nick was worried, could it have anything to do with some dangerous Grimm business? Hank was even more worried than Nick was, he was worried that the captain was going to confront Hank about the prank that him and his goddaughter had pulled on him. They both entered one after the other. "Take a seat" the captain says with a smile
Nick and Hank both sit down in front of the Captain. They weren't quite too sure in what the captain was going to say or even show to them. For a while, they sat there in silent suspense. Nick looked at Hank and then to Sean. And so forth between the three of them. Finally, the captain was first to speak. "I have called you both in here to talk about a serious matter..."
"I swear, Captain, we didn't meant to do it, it was only just some fun!" Hank yelled out, while getting up out of his seat.
Nick and Sean were confused of what Hank had outburst. They were also curious on who this 'we' was. Hank sat back down in his chair to let the captain continue. "I was saying, that the two of you have been enrolled for a new program that police departments everywhere are involved in. It's like an exchange program. This program will be going on for six months, longer if it's successful.". Shock had hit the two detectives right in the face. They had no idea about any of this, they didn't even approve of their names being put down. Then again, they were the best people for the job. "Both of your replacements are here, so go home and start packing, then meet back here for directions. You will be heading to Beacon Hills. Be back in an hour. Oh and another thing, all family members must be left behind"
........................
Juliette was at home with Kass, just going about their own business. The front door slams open as Nick arrives home. He immediately rushes up the stairs to begin packing. Juliette looked at Kass and she shrugged her shoulders. Neither of them had an idea of what was going on. Juliette goes to follow up on the explosive entrance. She saw Nick in the bed room packing up some stuff. Clothes and underwear and other items of necessity. "Nick, honey, what are you doing?"
"Packing"
Juliette's heart began to beat faster. Many questions ran through her mind. Why was he leaving?, especially like this. What had she done? What happened at work? All valid questions that she had demanded to be answered. Nick looked at her and laughed, kissing her on her forehead. This confused Juliette the most. Nick told her about the captains offer. Instantly, she dislikes the whole thing. She didn't want him leaving for six months for a stupid exchange program. So in the process of trying to stop it, she begins unpacking some of his stuff. Unfortunately, he just laughs and continues to pack. "What about Kass? I mean he said no family members but i know you and Kass both need each other". Nick stops packing, he knows it's true but there's nothing that he can do about it. It's been settled and he's in the exchange program. Juliette sighs and goes back down stares to let Kass know of everything he told her.
"Okay, cool. Can I go?" Kass asked calmly
"Sweetie, you aren't allowed to, no family" Juliette said
"I'm not going as family, If i'm enrolled at the school" Kass hinted
Juliette raised her eyebrow at Kass. She smirked knowing that it was the perfect plan. Quickly making a couple of phone calls. Juliette managed to get Kass in at the high school of Beacon Hills. Just as quickly she packed up most of her stuff and shoved them into one of her backpacks that she had. With this she ran out to the car and hoped to hide in the back seat. She remembers doing this when she was young and it completely fooled her dad. He had no idea where she had gone to. Assuming not much as changed, she was going to try the trick again. Nick came out the front door with Juliette and kissed her goodbye. He questioned where Kass was. Her mum kept it a secret and said she didn't have a clue, but he wished her luck and sent his love. Little did he know that his sixteen year old daughter was lying on the floor of the back seat of the car.Waiting for the arrival of Beacon hills.
.....................................
Nick picked up Hank, who had the directions and a map in his hand ready to go. They also had the GPS going just in case they needed even more back up. Knowing their luck, they might actually. Half way through the road trip to Beacon Hills, the men stopped for gas. Hank stayed in the car and with a shock of Surprise, he was frightened by the figure in the back. He screamed and got his gun out ready to shoot. Kass was just as frightened as Hank was, except she had a gun pointed at her. Hank questioned what she was doing here. Moment later, Nick had heard the scream and came running. He noticed his daughter and started asking the questions. "What are you doing here? Does your mom know you're here? You're going straight back home"
"I'm road tripping, yes she does and no, I'm not... I'm enrolled at Beacon Hills high school, and I can't miss my first day of school" Kass replied
Nick stared at her then to Hank and with that her sighed. Knowing that he has lost that battle and there was no going back. He paid for the gas then headed back on the road. Kass buckled up, ready to see what Beacon Hills brings her. "Well... this should be a fun six months shouldn't it?"
