The day of the second test with the West Indies finally arrived, proud moment for all cricket fans and a sad day for cricket. The man who was being referred to as the GOD of this sport , who owned 68% of all the games records , a single man who united the nation was walking in for the final time.
It was really hard for the people of India to digest the fact that , the man we all watched growing up, the man we one day wanted to be, was retiring. People from all corners of the globe flew in ti watch the guines ,a master do his work at office.
The match started at 9 and the spectators who came after 8 could hardly find a place to sit such was his craze such was the devotion of fans towards him. No one wanted to miss even a second in that match.
It was a feast to all when India chose to bat first. Every one was waiting for those two wickets to fall. But that only happened After lunch. After the fall of the 2nd wicket, the crowd roars could be heard all over Mumbai, they were singing their favorite song with only one word as it's lyrics. The song was "SACHIN....SACHIN".
I bet , even if you had stuffed your ears fully , you could still turn deaf with that sound. The roar which started on 1st day didn't stop till the very last moment the man was on field even after his speech on last day , the voices of day 1 were echoing.
Finally GOD walked in, one of the best feeling ever., Whole world stuck to their TV sets, prayers started as it was a ritual being followed India since 1989 and then the big screen showed what everyone was already doing , it said DONT EVEN BLINK.
It was a feast whenever sachin was on strike, don't ask what happened when he hit the bowler for a boundary. The 1st day he was at hid best and remained unbeaten on 38 runs.
Second day was even more exciting as he was already on crease . Within no time he reached 50 and then everyone was waiting for 101th century. Every one was shattered when he edged a ball to slip. He was caught by Sammy. Sammy did his duty perfectly but couldn't take that pain of getting him out, he was down in tears.
Dead silence all round no one was able to understand what just happened and before they were back to senses, the great man already walked off the pitch.
Tears all over the world as we did not know if we could ever see him bat again. The windies had failed in follow on and he couldn't bat ever again.
The last speech he gave gives me tears till date. I'm not his fan, I'm his devotee and every time I walk out to bat, everytime I lifted my bat on reaching a milestone , all are because of him. It was his inspiration , his videos from where I learned the game. I know I'm not the only one who did this , there are yet another Millon fans who might have done the same.
He left cricket, his records may be broken soon, but cricket is yet to find another GOD for itself.
#SRT FOREVER
