In the heat of the summer, Mackenzie was working hard at mastering the use her special powers. Mackenzie was born with the gift of controlling the weather. Mackenzie is sixteen and lives on a private remote Hawaiian island. James, her father, is very protective of her. He watches closely as her mentor Leo, instructs her in the art of lightening.
" Good job, you almost hit the target. With practice, you will soon be able to master your gift, young grasshopper. You need to practice your lightening strikes at least thirty times a day." Said Leo.
With a sigh, Mackenzie agreed, while thinking to herself that Leo is crazy.
"That's all for today Mackenzie. You keep practicing, and I'll see you next week." Said Leo.
After Leo left, a spy hired by her father, came to their house with an update. The spy had been in Africa checking out rumors of someone planning a take over of that region.
" Sir, it is much worse than we thought. It is more than just Africa he intends to take over, he is plotting to take over the whole world. Even worse, he has the ability to do it." said the spy.
" We will not go down without a fight." said James.
Just then he sees his daughter walk in.
" Father what are you talking about?" She asked.
"This is none of you concern, go get ready for dinner." James said sternly.
After dinner, her father and the spy retire to the library where they discuss the matter in more detail. Mackenzie hides behind one of the couch's, and listens in dismay. As she hears their discussion, she is determined to help her father. That night, she sneaks out to go find Leo, and tell him all about what she heard.
" Leo, my father sent me because he wants me to help him. He wants me to defeat the man that is plotting to take over the world." said Mackenzie.
"Mackenzie did your father really send you? I know how protective he is of you." He questioned
" I must help him even if he doesn't ask for my help!" She proclaimed.
Leo thought about it for a couple of minutes.
"Tell me everything you know." Said Leo
"They live in the Amazon Rain Forest and they have the means to over take the world." Said Mackenzie.
Mackenzie proceeds to tell him about everything she heard.
Leo listened closely and takes notes.
"Does this person have a name or any kind of special powers?" Asked Leo
" The spy said his name is Ulysses and he has the ability to shoot fire." Said Mackenzie.
" It looks like we better start tracking this guy. The Amazon goes on for thousands of miles. I can't walk that far. What part of the Amazon is he located in?" Asked Leo.
" It is the most remote area and he has an underground fortress. Leo, I think the element of surprise might be our saving grace. Ulysses would never imagine my Father allowing his daughter to help defeat the enemy." said Mackenzie.
" Ok lets get ready to go." said Leo.
The next night, at Leos small cabin, they proceed to leave. They got on a first class ship and were well on there way to the Amazon. Although is was a rather long trip, and quit bumpy and stormy. Almost every night it would down pour.
They spent most of their time training in the ships training room. Mackenzie got better and better.
"Leo, I am sick and tired of this dumb ship!" She screamed.
" I know, I know. I am to." said Leo.
" I don't think I can take anymore of this. At least this trip is almost over." She said .
" The trip has just begun young grass hopper." Said Leo.
"But I'm not a grass hopper for the fifth hundredth time." Said Mackenzie.
