I woke up to a bleary, rainy day. Fog seemed to be covering my eyes as I shook out the captivating tiredness threatened my body once again. My alarm clock shone through the pre-dawn, telling me it was only 5:35 in the morning. I groaned loudly then cursed, I forgot that my sister had slept with me the night before.

I looked down as she struggled relentlessly onto her stomach and fat tears rolled down her puffy cheeks. Her crying became audible as I stretched.

"okay, okay" I murmured pushing her reddish brown hair off her forehead

I scooped her up into my arms and shuffled into the kitchen. I glanced into my mother's room, and saw her empty bed, I knew she was working the late shift and would hopefully be home soon. Cries pulled me out of my obeservations and back to my sister.

"okay, Olivia. I hear you sweetheart" I kissed her forehead softly, her crying stopped as she hiccuped at my gesture of affection.

Her gray-blue eyes gazed up at me as I flickered on the kitchen light. I felt a dull ache behind my eyes as they adjusted to the probing lights. I rocked Olivia in my arms trying to calm her as I got her bottle ready. She gurgled and wrapped her slobbery fist in my black tangled curls that fell into her face. She cooed and laughed happily.

"you like that" i smiled down at her " huh Livi, you like that?" She wiggled at the sound of my voice, and yanked my hair.

I grabbed her bottle and prepared it, then stuck it in the microwave. Olivia squirmed as she became impatient again. I rocked her and sang to her softly. Then the microwave beeped. I grabbed the bottle out and shuffled back into the living room, turning on the TV. She grabbed for her bottle as I held it out of reach, I smiled at her efforts, and her eyebrows furrowd in frustration.

"Okay Liv" I plopped the bottle into her mouth

She latched on and made a grunting noise as she drank it hungrily.

"Piglet" I giggled

I began to channel surf, knowing that there was nothing good on. Finally I settled on an episode of Boy Meets World. I smiled at the fact that I was a total 90's kid. I could only feel sorry that Olivia would grow up without the good shows that I had as a little girl. I looked down at her as the bottle began to fall out of her mouth. Her eyes were fluttering as she was falling asleep again. I tipped the bottle back into her mouth, and her eyes opened sleepily. Then closed again as she began sucking absentmindedly.

I began to doze off, with shallow breaths, when the doorbell startled me out of my sleep. I glanced at the clock it was only 5:50.

'Who the hell is here at 5' I thought, then glanced down at Olivia hoping the noise didn't wake her, but she was still fast asleep.

I set her down into a pile of blankets and shuffled to the door. I struggled with the lock then pulled the door open. My mouth almost fell to the floor as a cop stood on my porch. I immediately though of my estranged older brother, who thought crack was his bestfriend. But the look on his face told me it wasn't that.

"Goodmorning, officer" I tried to sound cheery

"Hello maam" he said gruffly

" what can I do for you" I said nervously as Olivia woke up and began to cry

His demeanor changed form all buisness to sympathetic once he heard Olivia's cries.

I shifted from one foot to the other impatiently and looked over my shoulder, then back at him

"sir?" I broke the silence cautiously, he was snapped from his thoughts at the sound of my voice and focused back onto me

I'm afraid" he coughed nervously "there has been an accident"
