~2months later~
"hey girl" I loud voice rang through the hallways, assaulting my ears.
I closed my locker with a sigh, and
glanced over at my best friend, twirling her long black curls around her finger as she wiggled her fingers at a boy down the hall. I assumed he was a freshman, by the way he seemed to be totally lost in her, and the fact that she'd even bless him with a look.
Most guys, were intimidated by her. She is pretty no doubt, but her feminine "charms" came off a little too strong sometimes.
But, contrary to most belief, she was a really great friend. She has been amazing these past few months. Without her I'm not sure how I'd be doing it right now.
I watched intently as she charmed the boy just my wiggling her manicured fingers and gave him a sweet smile.
"Beth!" I rolled my eyes, not liking that I had to yell to get her attention.
"huh?" her gray eyes floated to my face. "oh" she flashed me one of her smiles "hey Babe"
She grabbed a lollipop out of her coat pocket and shoved it into her mouth. She slurped on it thoughtfully, as I reopened my locker then shoved them into my bag.
She grabbed my arm and pulled me away right as I swung my locker door shut. She smiled as she chattered endlessly about who was going out with who, and who was heartbroken. We drew attention where ever we went. Her, with her eccentric style and gorgeous black hair, and me with my long red hair and conservative clothes, we made quite a pair. Cute, nonetheless
But she was more of a gossip junkie, while I just enjoyed the silence. I never believed gossip, not that I thought she was lying, more along the lines that it always seemed that there were two sides to the story.
But as she endlessly continued to fill my head with highschool drama, my mind wandered off to Olivia. I promised myself that i would relax, and not over do the thinking. But this morning, I dropped her off at the babysitter's, and for the first time in two months she wasn't attached to my hip. She seemed to be my saving grace since mom passed away, but if I was going to give her a future, I needed to put myself through school. Yet, I still couldnt help but get choked up when I thought about---
"Amelia?" Beth's rising tone pushed me out of Lala land and realize the bell was seconds away from ringing.
"Amelia, have you been listening to anything I said?" her hands found themselves on her hips, and an impatient look on her face.
"I'm sorry Hun" I glanced up sheepishly "I have a lot on my mind"
"aw, I know sweetie" she gave me a quick hug "but you can't go on like this, your friends miss you...I miss you" she trailed off. Glancing up slightly as the warning bell rang.
"I know I'm sorry, I'm trying. I promise" I tried looking hopeful
"I know" she smiled "but still, we never talk like we used to...I miss my bestfriend" she pouted dramatically
I smiled at her "hey, how about after school we go get a bite to eat, then you can spend the night?"
She eyed me suspiciously acting as though she was contemplating my offer.
"come onnnnn" I grabbed her hands and widened my eyes into puppy dog mode "please?"
"welllllll since you begged" she said fighting back a smile "I guess I can do it"
I punched her on the shoulder
She checked her phone the sighed "okay kiddo" she hugged me "don't be late for class"
