"Today's the day... the day I go out and socialize with... people," Lyra said to herself, sighing as she began to dig through her closet. She pulled out a stunning deep sea blue dress and a pair of black heels to match. The outfit was perfect for a night out at the club.
Lyra walked over to her dresser and opened her jewelry box, scanning the contents before selecting a black, sparkly bracelet that would complement her dress perfectly. She laid the entire outfit on her bed, feeling a thrill of excitement as she envisioned herself wearing it.
Later, after a refreshing shower and a careful styling of her hair and makeup, Lyra stood in front of the mirror, admiring her reflection. The dress hugged every curve of her body, showcasing her figure in a way that made her feel confident and beautiful. It was a far cry from her usual scrubs, and Lyra couldn't help but feel a little excited about her night out.
Just as she was about to leave, a knock sounded at her door. Lyra's eyes narrowed as she made her way to the peephole. She was shocked to see Aidan standing on the other side, a charming smile spreading across his face.
Lyra's eyes flashed with annoyance as she opened the door, preparing to lecture him. "Mr. Williams!" she exclaimed, crossing her arms over her chest. "I didn't sign your release papers. Why aren't you at the hospital?"
Aidan's smile never wavered. "Aw, no hug for your favorite patient?" he teased, his eyes sparkling with amusement.
Lyra's expression remained stern. "No," she said firmly, putting her hands on her hips. "Now, explain yourself."
"The hospital let me go," Aidan explained, his voice casual. "They said they didn't need any more tests and I looked healthy."
Lyra's eyes narrowed, her mind racing with questions. "Okay..." she paused, her expression turning suspicious. "Wait, how did you know where I lived?"
Aidan's smile grew wider. "Your friend, Luke, gave it to me. He gave me your phone number too."
Lyra rolled her eyes, feeling a surge of annoyance. "Of course he did."
"Look, I was just stopping by to let you know I got released," Aidan said, his eyes sparkling with amusement.
Lyra's expression softened, and she shrugged. "It's fine... I guess. I'll take it up with Luke later."
Aidan turned to leave, but Lyra's voice stopped him. "Do you have any plans tonight?" she asked boldly.
Aidan froze, his back still turned to her. "No... why?" he asked, his voice cautious.
Lyra's eyes sparkled with mischief. "My friend, Michael, invited me out for drinks, and I was wondering if maybe you wanted to come with me."
Aidan turned to face her, his expression skeptical. "I wouldn't want to intrude. It sounds like a date to me."
Lyra laughed, her eyes rolling good-naturedly. "It's not. I promise. You see, ever since I started working here, Michael has been trying to get with me, even when I was with..." Lyra's voice trailed off, and she shook her head. "Never mind. Let's just say it's complicated. And it would make everything less awkward if you came."
Aidan's dark brows furrowed, his expression thoughtful. "Are you sure?" he asked, his voice low and husky.
Lyra nodded, her smile encouraging. "Yeah. You'll have fun, I promise."
Aidan's face broke out into a charming smile. "Okay."
"I guess I owe you for saving my life and all," he added, his eyes sparkling with amusement.
