Never Ending

CHAPTER TWO | Sweet Sorrow.

As I'm pulling out the drive way, my cellphone rings & it's Danni.

"Excuse me Boss Lady, but where are you??" Danni says & I can hear the concern in her voice given I'm not the type to show up late to my own clinic. "I'm on my way girlie. I'm pulling out the drive way now."

"Oh, well do you mind stopping by JavaHut on your way?" She asked. "Mocha Twist with extra espresso & whip cream?" I said. "I knew you loved me." She says with a smile in her voice.
"I'll be there as soon as I can, love you. Later." ..CLICK..

Danni is my long time bestfriend who I met back in high school. We met on our school bus when she sat next to me one day & have been bestfriends ever since. The one person who knows me better than anything & anyone. We told each other damn near EVERYTHING but maybe some things are better left unsaid I thought to myself. I wouldn't know how to feel if Danni ever found out about Eddy.

As I make my way into the office with JavaHut in hand, I suddenly get this overwhelming feeling that I'm being watched. I stood there to scan my surroundings but I saw nothing or no one.
"Get it together before you walk up in here girl" I told myself. As I walked to the elevator door, I put on  a smile like nothing in the world could break my spirit & headed up to my office.

The elevator doors opened & there was Danni with the most elated look on her face & me with a confused look on mine, trying to figure out why she was so excited.

I walk over to Danni & she greets me with a warm hug like always, & says "You guys give me soo much hope." with a huge smile on her face. Puzzled but unquestioning, I hugged her back & turned to walk to my office. There, behind my transparent office door & windows stood my spirits. They were shattering with every step I took towards the door. My head said turn around but I couldn't make it obvious so I walked into the arms of my oppressor. Flinching as he kissed my forehead with the same lips he spewed venom at me with & laid his hand that had damn there took my life the night before, on my back.

"Hey babygirl", he smirked. — This nigga got some nerve — I thought to myself as I smiled for the cameras that just so happened to be Danni's eyes & pulled the curtains to my office down so that I could be terrified in private. "Why are you here?" I asked, folding my arms across my chest, disgusted with the fact that he could be so bold. "I made a mistake" he said, "if it makes you feel better, hit me back. I'M RIGHT HERE. HIT ME! Strangle my life out of me, I deserve it. My life is in your hands." He was pleading with me to strangle him? — This nigga must've lost a screw in the midst of trying to tighten mines — I thought to myself.

He was taking off his tie & gesturing towards getting on his knees. I kinda felt bad. I seen a tear fall & I knew he was sorry, he never cries. "Please, I love you & can't lose you. I'll do better for you. I need you. Please" he pleaded. He was on his knees & hugging at my waist tightly. "I love you" kept replaying in my head. I couldn't even process what was happening, — How did we get here — "I love you too" I said, letting down my guard. "We can talk about it later, but right now isn't the time so I need you to get up". Eddy got up & looked down at me with tear stained eyes. For a moment, I saw a glimpse of the man I fell in love with in his eyes. I wiped his face & motioned for him to sit in the chair at my desk. He held my hand until I sat on his lap & together we worked on a spreadsheet of exotic animals for me to work more tedious on later. THIS is the man I fell in love with.
