Tamaya POV
I've been staying at my grandmothers house all week and it's now Sunday, my grandma told us all that we have to be church 9:30am sharp, meaning that my mom, daddy, aunt and uncle and my sisters and cousin have to be there.
" Maya sweetheart wake up"
"I'm up grandma"
"Make sure you call your mama to wake her up please and thank you" she yells walking out the room
I called my mama after i brushed my teeth she sound so drained I almost wanted to hug her thru the phone.
On our way to church i was singing "Indescribable by Kierra Sheard"
"You know you should really do somthing with that voice you have there . Its a gift and its very beautiful". My grandmother said still looking at the road driving. I smiled but didnt say nothing, I continued to stare out the window until we reach our church. Mt. Zion children missionary church.
We walked in and sat in the middle of the church, first my grandma then Liyah, Skylar, April, Nya, Mia, then me. My mama and daddy arrived 15mins later she had shades on and when she took it off it look like she have been crying for days but tried to cover it up with make-up she lean forward to say hi to my grandmother and the rest of us and hugged me then looked down. I honestly think that my parents is about to get a divorce but never said anything. My daddy seem like he was stressing to. smh
Pastor Jones message was "No Fear In Truth" in a nutshell he spoke about how instead of hiding from that truth or covering in up trying to make it look pretty or to make it seem like everything is alright, embrace it and enhance it so it doesn't stand in the way of your upcoming breakthrough and/or blessing. I felt like the message was directed to me but the way my mom look made me think it was more for her than me. She had tears on the brim of her eyes, I just hugged her and i felt a tear slide across my face from her eyes, she hugged me back and kissed my head. The message was done so the choir begun just as my aunt and uncle finally arrived my aunt gave my grandma a puppy dog face and blew a kiss to us, she rolled her eyes at my mama and mugged the shit out my daddy WELL DAMN. What was that all about, ummm okaeee
After church we all went to my grandma house as soon as my aunt walked in my grandmother started scolding her about her being so late to church, it was to funny. My mother went straight in the guest room. I put liyah down and followed behind her. I walked in the room and she was crying in her hands
"Ma" I spoke softly. she quickly wiped her tears away
"Yes Tamaya"
"Whats wrong
"Nothing baby, your face look swollen what happen and please don't lie to me. I'm bout tired of all the lies."she said whisper that last part more to herself
"ummm me and this boy got in a fight" i said stating half the truth
"WHAT" she jumped up "did you tell yo daddy or ya brother nem" she shrieked
"Yes ma i told Ty calm down its nothing serious" i tried to convince her, it worked because she sat back down and sighed
"But listen mama whats wrong"
"Nothing you wouldn't understand"
"Mommy I'm pretty sure i can handle it, ma I'm not a baby anymore" i explained
"your father and I are getting a divorce" she said as soon as my grandma bust in the door. She put her hands on both sides of her check and i started to cry my mom hugged me and pulled me down to sit on the bed with her as we began to sob. My grandmother rub both of our back telling us its gonna be alright
"Ma it hurts so bad" my mama cried to my granny
" I know baby, I know" my granny said. my mom started to dry her tears and so did I.
"Yall go clean up and come down for dinner" she said
"Yes ma'am" weboth said
“The truly scary thing about undiscovered lies is that they have a greater capacity to diminish us than exposed ones. They erode our strength, our self-esteem, our very foundation.”
