Aleks PoV:
My parents seemed weird over the past few days. They talked to me less, and I hear them sometimes talking in small hushed voices. I'm frightened, but it's my 11th birthday today. My parents told me tha I couldn't have a birthday party this year, because I'd be busy. I don't know what they mean by busy but I'm just happy that I'm finally 11.
I moved to London from Russia when I was 8, and I was happy in London, despite my accent and English is still rough around the edges.
I hear the mailman come and I pause from my video games. The mailman hardly ever comes. Our relatives never send mail, because the cost to send from Russia is high. I shrug it off though, probably for my parents. I hear my mother laugh happily and I hear her run upstairs. She runs into my room and hugs me close.
"It came! Aleks, baby, come downstairs. Let me get your father." She says helping me up from the ground, I leave my game paused and my controller on the ground.
"What came mom?"
"The letter. The letter! Come on honey." I furrow my brow and follow her down the stairs. My dad sits at the table, reading the newspaper.
"Maxim!" My mom says, sitting me at the table and giving me a pancake to eat.
"Max." My mom says again, my dad looks up.
"Yes Viktoria?"
"It came!" She squeals. My father looks at me with a smile but isn't as excited as my mom.
"Mom?" I ask, eating a bite of the pancake.
"Yes Aleksandr?"
"Will you tell me what came?" She gives me a bright smile.
"Your letter to Hogwarts."
"What?" I say confused.
"Vikki you're going to have to give him more information. Explain to him like you explained to me."
"Oh... Uh. Hogwarts is a school for special kids. When you are eleven you get a really special letter to it. I got the letter when I was 11. But muggles don't get the letter." My mom says, bending down and giving me a sweet smile.
"Can you please avoid the word muggles. You say it like its a bad thing."
"What are muggles?" I ask, looking at my mom with large innocent eyes.
"Non-wizard folk."
"So... We're wizards? Did you have a muggle parent too?"
"No, my parents were both wizards. But it doesn't matter, you can still be an amazing wizard even with non-wizard parents."
"Why didnt you tell me about this sooner?"
"Me and your father didnt want to tell you because there was a 50% chance you wouldn't be a wizard. But we have to prepare now, okay? After breakfast were going to buy you stuff for your first year at Hogwarts."
"Like what?"
"An owl... And a wand. And maybe even a broomstick, maybe you'll be like your grandmother and be totally amazing at quidditch." I nod and quickly finish my breakfast.
"Can we go right now?" I ask excitedly.
"Of course. Go get changed! And hurry, we have to get all your stuff before the train leaves. I don't want have to take the car. I remember what happened last time I did that." She laughs and I run up the stairs to my room. I quickly throw some clothes on and run back downstairs, where my mom waits by the door.
"C'mon baby. Daddy doesn't want to come so go say goodbye." I nod and run to my dad, hugging him tightly before running back to my mom.
"Moooom! Lets go!" I say. We run to the car and I fall asleep
Almost immediately after getting in.
I wake up in my moms arms, suddenly a brick wall opens up before my eyes and I jump from my moms arms as a whole new world opens in front of me.
"Aleks, hurry." My mom says, putting her hand on my back and leadin me to tons of different stores. We get a wand from Ollivanders last. I put it in my pocket. I see a boy my age with two other people in front of me. Suddenly a woman unites with the three boys, I think one of the boys mothers.
"Oh my.. Harriet?" My mom says, the woman turns around.
"Vikki?" The woman says, hugging my mom. The boys turn and look at me.
"Is this your son?" Harriet asks, my mom nods.
"His name is Aleks."
"Hi Aleks! I have a son your age. Eddie come here!" A latino boy with glasses walks over from the other two boys.
"Hi Aleks, I'm Eddie. Do you want to walk with me, Seamus, and James?" He asks, a smile on his face. I nod and smile. I walk over to Seamus and James with him.
"Jordan and Dan are going to meet up with us, they're brothers." Seamus says to me. I nod.
"Jordan's sort of the leader of our little group, we all went to muggle school together. The two others from our group, Steven and Nick, aren't wizards. We had to tell them that we were going to a private school without them, they looked so upset." Eddie says, sadly looking down. Suddenly a boy in a red hat and a boy in a batman shirt join us.
"Oh, Jordan and Dan, this is Aleks. He's the new edition to our group. He's pretty cool. I think."
"Hey Aleks." Dan says.
"Do you play videogames Aleks?" James asks.
"I love videogames I say excitedly.
"I think you'll fit into this group pretty well then." Jordan says, smiling at me. These are the first friends I've ever had. I finally feel accepted.
"I'm glad." I say.
