A Sunflower in April

It was February 14th, and April had already been feeling the dread of winter in December. When her beloved was diagnosed with lung cancer, it seemed as if things couldn't be worse.

He had always called her his precious sunflower, they were his favourite; and he said that one of the things about her that drew him to her was her name. Sunflowers bloom mid-April, always around the time as her birthday, and he always managed to surprise her with something sweet and meaningful.

She slowly followed the cold stone path that lead her to the burial plot, a place she had stood last three months ago. As April looked at the grey stone in front of her that read Treavour Solisc, beloved son, uncle and fiancé. She felt the tears yet again leaving the brim of her eyes, and landing in the vase of sunflowers she had just neatly placed beneath his name.

She quietly whispered vale mea lux, in aeterno inaeternum, and quickly headed out of the graveyard and into her car, where she proceeded to go home.

As she was about to open the front door, to enter her condo she saw a small pot beside the door with a note attached to it. She brought it inside and carefully opened the card, not knowing who it was from.

It read; My love,

I know that by the time you read this I will already be gone, but I cannot bear for you to have nothing from me as a final way of saying goodbye. In the pot is a sunflower seed, and I want to care for this plant like you always have cared for me. In mid April it will of course bloom, and until then I want you to let a very special sunflower bloom in you. Amabo te, dum in aeternitate.

As April read the final two sentences, she touched her pregnant belly with a small smile gracing her lips. She would let the sunflower bloom, until the sun couldn't emit anymore light and the trees couldn't produce any oxogen. As much as he was gone there was still a part of him with her, and she intended to hold on the blessing he gave.

I'm so sorry if the Latin is all wrong, I got it off of Google translate. Vale mea lux, in aeterno inaeternum, meansGoodbye my love, forever in eternity. Amabo te, dum in aeternitate, means I will love you until eternity is over.
