"ALICE?! ALICE CAN YOU HEAR ME???"  Monica was shaking Alice in her hands. Alice wasn't responding. Monica knew what that meant, but she was afraid to acknowledge the truth. She was looking around to see if someone is still alive. She saw her sister, Alice's mother, Sophie lying on the ground, unmoving. She ran to her. "Sophie?!" She saw Sophie's ribcage moving up and down. Sophie opened her eyes, "Monica?" Her voice was raspy, and very quiet. Monica grabbed her hand and was soothing her. "Shh, it'll be okay, don't talk."

"Alice..." she gulped, "is my daughter okay? Take her with you please!" She saw the look on my face and instantly started to sob. "Oh no no no, my little Alice!"

"Sophie calm down, you're just going to hurt yourself. I'm going to take you with me to the facility and they'll take care of you, and you'll live. Okay?" Monica was smiling through her tears that were falling down her eyes. She knew what that meant for her sister Sophie, she looked terrible. Her head was bleeding hard and she had something in her side, like a glass. Monica just wanted to make Sophie feel better. "No...I...I'm not going to make it Monica..." She whispered. "Don't say that please Soph. You'll make it." Monica was crying hard now. "I..I lov..love you sis..." And so Sophie closed her eyes as she exhaled her last breath.

Monica held her closely and was crying while she was hugging her. "No, nonono not you too!"  She suddenly stopped, remembering her husband. As she was looking around for him there was this nasty feeling in the pit of her stomach. That's when her heart shredded to pieces. Her husband was lying on the ground, unmoving.

"Jason?! Jason please can you hear me? Don't do this to me!" Her tears were even bigger now, she was hugging him and yelling at him. "Please don't leave me alone! We were supposed to go together to space where we could wait for Earth to be inhabitable again!" She knew he was gone, and that she had to let him go, but this was her true love. Her phone rang and it was her friend from work. She took a deep breath, wiped the tears with her sleeve and answered her phone. "Monika, I saw on the radar what happened. Are you okay? Are you injured?" She cleared her throat, "No no, I'm, I'm fine... But Jason...He...He didn't make it..."

Monica heard a small gasp, "Monica, I'm sorry..." She only nodded but she knew her friend couldn't see her. "Look...We need you here, and we need you now. I suggest you to quickly pack your things, clothes and whatever you need. Things are getting ugly. And by all means, go with your car."  Before Monica could answer, the line went dead. She looked at her husband and she picked up his hand. She held his hand on her heart, "I love you so so much. Always did, always will." She kissed his hand and his forehead.

She looked around one more time to see if at least someone is alive. All her relatives...Gone. A lump started forming in her throat and she quickly looked away. She ran to her room, picked up a bigger bag and she started packing. She threw clothes inside, a picture of her and Jason and a few books. Monica always loved to read, it distracted her from the world she was living in. She took a final look at her bedroom and left the house. Her hands were still shaking, so when she wanted to put the key in the keyhole she dropped them.

"Okay Monica. Calm yourself down..." She whispered to herself. Monica took a few deep breaths and calmed herself. After picking up the keys, she was able to open the door. After putting her bag in the trunk and moving to the drivers seat she went to the facility. It was a 15 minute drive away.

While driving, she was looking around the neighbourhood. Everything was either collapsing or burning. All the people she knew were running, crying...a lot of them were dead. Before she turned the radio on, a nasty alarm was blasting over the sšeakers."...and please, for the love of God, stay inside. If possible. And pray. Pray to our Lord." It was silent for a minute, "Oh my God! It's coming! The big..." the radio station died.
