Warrior Cats: Dawnfang's Destiny book 1

Chapter 3

   Six moons have past.  Tinykit and Mushkit are already apprentices and today is the day Dawnkit and his littermates become apprentices too.  Dawnkit jumps up and down and mews in excitement, "We are becoming apprentices!"

   Grassleap grabs Dawnkit and grooms him, "Yes my dear, but you need to look clean and nice for your apprentice ceremony." She tells him.

   Dawnkit trys to escape his mother's grip but she is too tough so he just sits there.  She does the same with Ashkit and Sandkit and then Beamstar calls the meeting words.  They rush outside but Grassleap grabs them and then they walk under her, tails high and head raised.  They sit near the Highrock and then Beamstar meows loudly when his whole Clan is gathered, "Cats of ThunderClan, we are here to give three new members their apprentice names."

   He calls to Dawnkit and his littermates and they scramble over to the Highrock and climb it.  Beamstar then meows, "Dawnkit, do you agree to follow the Warrior Code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

   Dawnkit mews, 'I do!"

   "Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your apprentice name. Dawnkit, from this day forward until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Dawnpaw and your mentor," 

He looks around at his Clan, "Will be Rockclaw." 

   Rockclaw gets up, surpriseness in his blazing red eyes.  He pads up to Dawnpaw and touches noses with his new apprentice.  Beamstar does the same with the rest of Dawnpaw's littermates, Sandkit gets Mousepelt as her mentor and Ashkit gets Tigerfoot as his mentor.  Beamstar nods to tell that the meeting is over, the Clan then congratulates Dawnpaw and his littermates. Accept some stay  where they are. Dawnpaw gets so excited and then wonders what will happen as an apprentice.
