I yawned, getting off of the small blanket pile I made on the floor, Frederick was already awake, running around and getting used to the new place. After stretching my eyes darted towards the kitchen, I grimaced realizing I only brought chips and other small snacks.
"Shit." I took out two small bowls, filling one with water and the other with dog food.
"I'll be back soon Fred," I said whilst petting the dog on the head. Thankfully I wasn't too far from a pizza place, my gas was low and I don't have much too money so this was my best option until I get a job. My knee still hurt from the accident yesterday, not to mention my eye was still swollen, it would probably take a week or so for it to go down. I walked into the pizza place, it was obviously a failing business, small and empty. Well, except for this one young boy and three girls who all had unnatural skin tones, they must be cosplaying. They were enjoying a pizza, well two of them were, the boy and the purple girl, the other two were just sitting there. To me they looked like a big family, I used to wish I could have a nice family one day, but now children just seem like too much of a hassle. As a child everything seemed hopeful, I would find my 'prince charming' well, now I guess it's more like 'princess charming' now. (or either if your bi/pan/other)
The teen handed me my pizza before immediately going right back on her phone, I was about to leave when I felt a tug on my sleeve.
"Are you new to Beach City?" I looked down at the small boy, his hair was dark brown and frizzy, he wore a red shirt with a star on it and his eyes seemed to be filled to the brim with innocence and wonder.
"Oh my!" The lanky girl said when she saw me, her hair seemed as if it broke all known laws of gravity, she also seemed to have some sort of gem on her forehead. "What happened to your eye?!" She seemed a bit too concerned for a stranger, the girl brought a hand to my face, looking in my eyes. "It's badly swollen." At this point, I was debating if I should tell the truth or not.
"U-um, my ex-girlfriend and I got into a.....fight." An instant look of concern washed over all their faces.
"We'll show you around town." Said the rather tall one, who had a pair of sunglasses on that looked like they belonged in the seventies. She nodded to the others. I quickly got my purse out of my car, sitting the pizza down in the backseat. I didn't expect to be gone for too long, it was a small place after all...
(Third person POV)
Y/n walked with the gems, Lapis and Peridot included. They all showed Y/n around town, however, one by one the gems got distracted, Lapis and Peridot getting distracted by a circus game and Garnet and Steven getting distracted by arcade games. But Pearl, she stayed, talking with Y/n.
"So, what you're telling me is that you guys aren't cosplaying?" Y/n inquired.
"I'm still not sure what cosplaying is, but I can assure you we aren't doing that." Pearl responded.
"And you're also telling me that you're aliens from a planet where everyone is basically birthed from gems?" Y/n found this all hard to take in.
"Well, I wouldn't put it quite like that, but yes."
Y/n looked towards the sky, watching as day turned into night, she suddenly remembered that she should've been home hours ago.
"Well, um, sorry to leave so suddenly leave, but I have a dog waiting at home." Y/n said, scratching her head as she watched the group come back in the order they left, they all said they're goodbyes and Y/n went home for the night still questioning what exactly her new friends were.
