"Harry..."
Louis calls, almost out of breath.
"Fu- Harry!"
The laughing boy with bouncing spacebuns ran out to the park- abandoned due to work and school- a safe place they both went to cry and laugh and get high in.
"You can't catch me Lou!"
Harry laughs, long limbs stumbling up small stairs. The large stature looked humongous compared to the slide he tried to squeeze his way down on.
"Hazza..." The shorter boy whines, "You're too big for that, love."
Harry only laughs, clutching the soft woolen fabric that sheltered his body from the Autumn's kiss.
"Fuck! I'm fucking stuck!" He laughs, "Lou, I'm going to have to stay here 'till I die! You need to bring me food everyday, okay? And we'll have to build a wall around so the kids won't interrupt our sex."
Louis winces at the thought, "Sex at that angle would be uncomfortable, wouldn't it?"
Harry laughs again, "Better than no sex."
This time Louis chuckles, tugging at his sleeves in an attempt to block out the cold, "You're right. I might just have to find someone else to have sex with."
Somehow, even with his arse stuck, he pushes Louis. Barely though.
"Hey..."
"I'm kidding!" Louis draws closer, taking both of the boys arms to stop him from pushing Louis away, "Only kidding, love."
Harry does nothing but puffs, trying to squeeze his way out of the slide.
Eventually, after Louis doing nothing but laughing on the playground floor, Harry broke free.
"You're such an asshole," Harry scoffs, unable to even feign anger, "A big meanie."
The boy wipes his eyes, tears from laughing too hard dismissed, "I told you you wouldn't fit."
Harry scoffs again, pushing Louis lightly, making his way under the tree that they always sat under.
"Look." Harry points, a faint 'L + H' etched on the bark of the apple tree. He always did that. Always ensuring that it didn't go away. Always checking it hadn't magically faded or misplaced. Louis found it more than endearing.
"Still there."
Louis says, letting Harry sit between his legs.
"Still there."
Harry nods, a confirming tone laced his usual bubbly voice.
The spacebuns Louis had tied for the taller boy had begun to fall off, so he did them again- effortlessly- years of having little sisters only took him a few seconds to redo it.
Harry had short hair back then, but it was still able to carry the spacebuns that looked so cute on him.
"I wish I didn't have to go back, Lou." The boy whimpers, from infront of him. He felt the slightly larger figure shrink back, feeling small- no doubt.
Louis ony wished he could stop him from feeling that way somehow.
Louis sighs, neither of them liked talking about this, but both of them had to accept the fact that it was going to happen.
"I want to stay here. In Donny. With Lottie and Liam and Zayn and Niall," his voice cracking, "With you."
The boy says nothing else, scrambling to Louis' side instead of his front, rustling leaves crunched as their bodies entwined in each other, holding on.
Hoping that maybe if they held each other tight enough, neither would slip away.
"I know, love." Louis kisses the boys neck, "I know."
What else was he supposed to say? That he would stop it somehow? He couldn't. They were both only about 18. He tried convincing Harry's mum somehow- saying how Harry could stay at his, they were technically adults after all- but to no avail. Harry had to leave back to Redditch.
"It-" The sob that threatened to break Harry choked back his words, "It feels like I'd rather die than go back, Lou."
Louis pulls away from the hug, the warmth left the both of them in an instant.
"Don't say that, Harry," the blue eyes forced the green ones to look back at them, shoulders gripped with so much love and comfort Harry didn't think it was possible, "You're going to come back. We're going to see each other. It's not the end of the world Hazza."
"It's not that, Louis. I know we will, we always do. I'm confident in that."
Harry stopped hugging the boy, the emptiness felt so foreign- how could he handle having to deal without this for more than a day?
"Dad, isn't it?"
Harry sulks, pulling his legs closer to his chest, humming sadly.
"He won't hurt you Ha-"
A sharp breath disrupts Louis.
"That's what mum said," Harry snaps, "What she said before, what she's saying now."
The hurt that Louis would do anything to let it not be heard alongside the boy's voice had stung
"It's all fucking bullshit. I'm happy here. We were happy here," Harry threw a stone he had been fiddling with earlier, "Why can't she accept the fact that he doesn't love us?"
"Harry."
Louis says, hugging him.
"I just wan't to stay with Lou."
