Search for Kiera
Chapter 1
Let’s start first with an introduction, shall we, my name is Maxon Higa, a very cheerful and happy-go-lucky person. I am half Filipino and half Japanese. I have a best friend who I treasure most her name is Kiera Manda, half Filipino and half Korean.
We are best friends ever since we were born. Well probably because we’re born on the same day September 23 at the same hospital and our parents are friends too. (WHAT A COINCIDENCE RIGHT?) I’m just an hour old.
Well growing up, we made a promise to each other that we’ll never be separated but an accident happened that changed both of our lives.
The Past
“Kids! Eat your breakfasts” – mom
“MOM! Can we play after this?” I said cheerfully.
“Yes, but be careful” – my mom said with a caution in her voice. Well we are living in a mountain province far from the city but Kiera lives there she just come here often to play with me or may I say to have a bonding moment.
My parents choose to stay here because they love the open area where you breathe fresh air everyday and you wouldn’t use any aircon to keep your house cool, and here it’s much safer far from delinquencies and perils.
“Yah..Whatever “ I replied hurriedly eating my food while my mom kept on insisting that I should slow down cause I might choke.
After minutes of eating and sharing stories in dinner table. We went outside to play.
“You’re it!”
“I’m a fast runner you know, so you better run now” – Kiera said challenging me.
We played and played for hours until Kiera gave up because she couldn’t catch me. She sat down covering her face with her knees and brownish hair. I felt remorseful and ended up telling her that I was “it” and I would give her a chance to run.
“Don’t cry anymore” I said feeling sorry.
“Okay” she said raising her head so I can see her face and her blue crystal eyes caught my attention and she stared at me blankly wondering why I was staring at her and then I notice something else there wasn’t any tears in her eyes.
“I guess my acting paid off” she said giggling and ran as fast as she could.
“HEY! That was very mean”
So I walk after her letting her keep up with her pace when I saw her heading towards the edge of the mountain. I shouted “Kiera, be careful!” but it was too late she stumbled in a branch of a tree and started rolling. I was running after her but it was too late she fell of the edge. I couldn’t believe what I saw with my own eyes. It was a terrible sight, seeing your only best friend fell of a mountain. I ran towards the edge and look down wishing if I could see her but no luck, the sight I saw was all trees, the province where we live is not that super high but still dangerous and could cause death if we fall from the edge. I ran straight home and saw my mom and dad watching Dancing with the Stars.
