Amelia's pov

I tapped my foot angrily while waiting for Lydia to come running inside the school like she always does.

For a nerd like herself she sure is a time optimist.

Where the hell is she? I asked myself and looked at the empty hallway. The bell hadn't rung yet but it would in just a matter of seconds.

I had taken her books out of her locker minutes ago so we could go straight to class.

I heard a loud bang and an 'ow' I chuckled until I saw her running up to me with her brown hair in two frenchbraids.

"Hi sorry I'm late." She giggled before taking her books. I shook my head before grabbing her hand. She hold onto mine tightly and we continued walking up the stairs. The first bell rung and she cursed under her breath.

"What was that?!" I demanded looking at her while still walking.

"Nothing." She looked at me with her big brown doe eyes and I sighed. If I could have it my way she would already be bent dow- get a grip Amelia!

"I don't like that kind of language. We've been through this before." I said before starting to keep up my pace, wouldn't want to be late. It's only a few weeks left. She hurried behind me, failing quite big because of her short legs. I couldn't help but to awe when she had to run a bit to keep up with me.

"I'm sorry." She said with sadness clear in her voice making me chuckle.

"It's okay." We both stepped inside of the classroom as the bell rung. We took our seats that were next to each other.

Ever since Lydia got moved up to our class I had made sure she could be next to me at all times. It all started back when she was in kindergarten.

I walked home from school by myself since my parents were too busy working to take care of me properly. I went by the little park that no one ever goes to anymore. I always did and always had. I stopped in my tracks as I heard a loud but still soft sob. I turned around and looked at a little girl stuck at the top of the swings. She didn't look older than 3. I couldn't help but to feel sorry for her, something I hadn't done in two years. I walked over to the swings and tried reaching for her.

"Hello up there! I'll help you. Just tell me how you got stuck." I yell at her. She looked down at me with red puffy eyes and a red nose. I frowned quickly at it. I wanted to see her smile for some reason.

"The man said mommy and daddy went to heaven so I twied cwimbing to heaven but it not wowk." She cried harder and tried to reach up to the sky. I giggled softly at her innocence before climbing up on the swing.

"Come down here so can I help you find them okay?" I asked unsure of her answer. She just cried and shook her head no.

"I want mommy and daddy!" She screamed.

"Get down now!" I demanded and reached for her leg. She didn't say anything but reached down so I could catch her. I grabbed her gently and sat down on the swing with her on my lap.

She grabbed my shirt in little fists and cried hard against my chest.

"How old are you?" I asked once she had calmed down a bit.

She looked up at me and I wiped away her tears.

"Five." She said proudly, a small smile forming on her lips. Five? Was the first thing I thought. She looked so much younger.

"Were you only crying because of your parents?" I asked and she shook her head no.

"The man said I can visit mommy and daddy at the chuwch whenevew I want to. But in kindewgawten mean guy wewe being wude because I gonna be moved up to schoow eawwier." I smiled at her talking since she couldn't still pronounce 'l' and 'r'

"That's cool. I also go to shool maybe we will go together!" I said happily and she smiled at me and nodded.

"I'm seven." I said proudly and she gasped.

"When I gwow up I wanna be seven too." She said cutely while I stood up. I picked her up again and she wrapped her legs around my torso and rested her head on my shoulder.

"Where do you live now? When mommy and daddy are in heaven?" I asked ignoring her earlier sentence. She shrugged and pointed to the playground.

"You can live with me." She looked up at me and smiled.

"Weawwy?!" She screeched happily and I nodded. She hugged me before nestling her head in the crook of my neck.

"I'm Amelia."

"I'm Wydia."

"Stop starring." I said and Lydia tore her eyes away from one of the school sluts.

"You know life outside of the closet is better." I added sending a wink her way.

"I-I'm not a lesbian." She shifts her eyes up then down and then to my eyes like she always does when she lies.

"You know I can tell when you're lying." I stated making her sigh cutely. "It's nothing to be ashamed of." She didn't answer and just kept eating her food.
