Honestly I didn't think I'd be here today at all. Throughout the holidays I had planned not coming back to school. But here I was, standing right infront of the giant, hard, metallic gate, I just glanced at it and took a deep breath before stepping in this hell.Look, as you may have already noticed I hated school. Why? Easy question, I had very few friends (most of them even avoided me), I was barely known by people, Blake Newman? Nobody knew me. I didn't care if people were unaware of my presence. The only thing that I was actually concerned about were the guys who decided it would be funny to bully me. I understand why they would though, I'm an easy target. Just based on my looks you'd quickly understand, let's say my body is weak, and I look like a 2007 emo myspace kid. (In my defense, it could be worse)
I stopped by a large hall to check on my timetable, straightening my glasses I walked past the hall to get to the music rooms, since that was my first class today. Honestly I felt glad and relieved that this was my first lesson, music was always my way of calming down and helping myself to just live on. It may seem 'cheesy' or sort of stereotypical, but it was the truth.
As soon as I got there I waved at my teacher, Mr. Joseph. He taught my music class last year too, so I already knew him and his ways of teaching. He was probably my favorite teacher in the school. He made school a bit better which was something. I took one of the acoustic guitars from the room and roughly played the chords for one of my favorite songs: 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' . My teacher smiled at me, I was his best student ( since music was my only actual interest). After 40 minutes of practicing the one easy song, the bell rang. I got up to once again check my schedule to see Math was next.
By the end of math my hatred for school came back pretty quickly. Math was the most disgusting subject and I obviously sucked at it. I didn't want to think more about it, so as I got out of the classroom to go to my locker I tried to distract myself. I avoided the bullies just by luck, I was saved.
By the end of the day, I got my stuff packed and started walking slowly meanwhile humming some dumb made up song. Slow steps, my feet touched the ground on a certain rhythm, my breath interrupted my creation every few seconds. This was the type of thing that calmed me down.
If you were wondering, yes I lived pretty close to school. It took me just 10 minutes walking at my usual pace.As soon as I got home I took my keys and opened the door. Of course there was no one there to greet me, just my cat Teddy. Oh what a beautiful creature Teddy was. Soft, silky, pumpkin coloured fur with shimmering deep chocolate eyes. I pet him as the door closed behind me. I let out a relief sigh and headed to my room.
