Part 2: Torment and Testing

When Seth wakes up, he's in a cage of steel bars. He looks around frantically. What he sees is more people: kids like him, teenagers, adults, even old people that could be his grandparents. The older people are covered in scars, and some are even missing body parts like their arms and legs. The worst part is that he sees Sean in a cage next to him.

The men from earlier enter the room. Or is it a cave? Seth can't tell because the room goes dark before he can look. But it reeks of sweat, blood, and other more disgusting things. The boy starts crying, shouting that he wants his mother, and feels the crack of a whip on his leg, only making him cry more, though he keeps it quiet now, already feeling blood trickle down to his ankle.

"Shut up you stupid brat!" a booming voice yells. Seth can only assume it was the big guy. He hears Sean yell at the ape to leave Seth alone. The sound of his brother's cage opening fills his ears, followed by a yell of fury and terror, and a door slamming, then silence.

"Wh-where are we?" he asks between sobs after a while, finally gaining the courage to speak.

"No one knows." a deep voice, closer and calmer than the brute's, answers him.

"Who are you? Where did they take my brother?"

"Most likely to the lab. Or the torture chamber for being a pain in the ass." a new,young voice responds, and Seth can actually hear the sneer in his voice.

"Craig! Leave the boy alone. He only just arrived." the first voice chides the second, belong to Craig. Then it's directed at Seth. "Don't mind him. My name is David. You can call me Dave. What's your name, son?

"Seth.... My brother's name is Sean."

"Alright Seth. Right now, they're probably evaluating your brother's physical abilities as well as his emotional reactions. They'll be doing it to you as well."

Now, all Seth could do was wait and hope his brother would come back to him
