In the country were fields of lilies dance in the wind and if you are very quite you could hear them sing. Up the hill sat an old country shack of a house, with a swing on the porch, and everyday a young girl would swing on her porch while she sung her heart out she was just trying to become a singer, a star that the world would love.

Rose Craven would sing with her record player until she learned all the words to the song, if a new song came out that she loved, she would simply had to have it, she would talk her father into buying the song, and play it over and over until she was confident to sing the song without the record player.

Evenings came quick in the country because of the large shady trees, the evening cool breeze often brought a fresh sent of the wet soil which you could smell for miles and miles. The incredible creatures of the earth would began to sing, which made Rose sing to the sounds of creatures.

"Rose, its getting late." Her father yelled. "Come in before dark, I don't want any trouble with those farm boys up the road."

Houses in the country were miles apart and you would have to walk a good ways just to see your neighbor. Still no mater how far the next house was they all could hear Rose lift her voice in the night. So you could imagine what her father was going through, and doing everything he could to drown her out.

"Rose, I'm not going to tell you again come in the house and get ready for bed, I mean now!"

Rose went in the house but in her heart she still had a beat, of the earth creatures of the night singing in her heart. It did not matter to Rose, the faucet dripping water, or the heater kicking back, Rose could make a song from anything, when they created karaoke they was thinking about people like Rose.

The next morning Rose got up and got ready for school, she had a song in her heart for the boy up the road, she did not care weather or not anyone heard her while she was singing in the

shower, still Rose knew she needed to hurry if she was going to catch the school bus, because it was a long walk to the school yard, and staying home was not an option. Rose was out of the shower and she began putting together her school clothes, she decided on pink and blue, since the winter was almost over and the spring was coming in, Rose put on a fluffy pink cashmere sweater and a pear of blue denim genes. After breakfast Rose dashed out of the house to catch the school bus, hoping to see the fellow she had a crush on. Sure enough there he was sitting in the back of the bus chilling

with his friends, when Rose got on the bus; his heart stopped for a

second her face always had a glow of sunshine that he could not ignore.

"Hi Tommy," Rose said while she was taking a seat, trying to sit near him or as close as possible but could not because the entire back seats were taken, so Rose began to walk back towards the front of the bus, but before she could turn to head for the front. Tommy requested that one of his friends move so Rose could sit down.

"Tommy you move and let Rose sit down after all she is not my girl, she is yours or is she?" One of Tommy's friends said.

"Come on man, why would I move if I want to sit next to her? After all you did say she is my girl and not yours. Do the right thing."

"Then Tommy, why don't you do the right thing and let the lady have your seat." Another friend said.

"You are missing the point."

Not wanting to move Tommy gave up his seat for Rose. Tommy did not mine being the gentlemen, although now Tommy is the one to have to find a seat up front.

Tommy Sheetz is a young boy who lives up the road from Rose, with five brothers and three sisters they lived in a big two story house the biggest house on their road. Tommy's father worked on the farm which is where they lived, where his daddy's grandfather was a slave and when the slaves were freed Tommy's daddy's grandfather stayed on, to work for the old man who own the land. When the old man died he left everything to Tommy's family.

When the school bus arrived at school, Tommy got off the bus and began marching back and forth, trying to think of a clever way to ask Rose to be his girl.

"Hey Rose," Tommy asked, "Can I walk you to class?"

"Sure Tommy, I would love that." Rose said while smiling and batting her eye lids at Tommy; hoping the walk to class would be a good chance for Tommy to asked Rose to be his girl, but that's not what happens. They walked together in silence, and no one said a word the whole time, when they got to Rose class room they simply said their good-byes to one another and went to their separate classes, Rose looked back at Tommy, into his bright handsome face, her eyes spoke love without her saying a word Rose then turned and went into her class room, and with an unsteady feeling for Tommy, Rose did not here the other kids mingled voices and their chit chatter of their simple lives. The kids did not change or disturb Rose's thoughts; Rose felt her heart

go into a double beat, and with Rose never being in love before she

could not understand what was going on with the deep feeling she was experiencing.

The Teacher still hadn't came into the class room and the

children still had control of the room, from the mere noise of their voices, Rose's soul began to sing a song in her heart from the sound of the noise which her class mates were making.

Rose had two very close friends that she told everything to, Doris and Danielle, they looked passed all the commotion of the chit chatter and into Rose's face and saw Rose had a crazy look on her face, which was a look of all her feelings were all bottled up in her, as though butterflies swarmed in her stomach, which made Doris and Danielle look at each other, as if they both knew what the other was thinking, they both stop what they were doing and flew over to where Rose was sitting and they both tried to venture into Rose's little world.

"Rose?" Danielle asked. "What's has got your face all in a bubble?"

Rose then took a deep breath and began to sigh.

"My life is pretty crazy right now, girl my stomach is all in knots and I can't think, and I feel lost. I believe Tommy likes me but he won't say anything." Rose said.

While both girls were trying to understand what Rose was talking about, Doris was trying to be witty but still trying not to be too much in Rose's business, she made a suggestion.

"Well you know what you've got to do. You might have to make the first move."

"Oh no, she doesn't," Danielle blurted out while looking at Doris as if Doris had just lost her mind, not to mention how the other class mates paused because of the out burst, it was so loud the entire room looked up in silence. Confused and bewilder, Rose expressed her deepest feelings on the subject.

"Well, my girls, I have always had guys to do for me I've never ever had to ask for anything, they just did for me and to change that now would be a tragedy, but still I don't know how to come across with this guy, I can tell that he likes me, he just will not admit it."

As frustrate as Doris was getting she was still trying to put her views on Rose without seeming to be so obvious that she was allowing herself to be in Rose's business.

"Well, then you know what you have to do." Doris said when Rose cut her off again.

"You know when ever I would learn a song, and lot of times I felt that I just wasn't getting it right, my father would tell me; accept the good but expect the best, he hoped that I would do something with my voice one day. I think that I'm going to use that expression and apply it to everyday situation."

"Rose," Danielle replied in a commanding voice.

"You have to do what you have to do, but do it as a lady. I see the challenge in your eyes but it's good that it is without malice in your words, still unlike Doris, I believe if you care about someone then you would allow them to come in their own time and not trick them in yours."

"Rose, don't listen to Danielle, she is off her rocker if you know what I mean? Danielle can't get a guy, and she want to tell you how, what a looser."

"What! Who are you calling a looser?"

"I don't have to listen to either of you. Now you both can get out of my head."

"Just trying to help you girl, you are the one with your face all in a bubble." Danielle yelled.

Just then the teacher came in she order Doris and Danielle to

take their sit.

"This is a short quiz." The teacher said.
