Ch. 1

Maddox Kyle, the son of Catwoman never thought he would be in this predicament. After all he was only nine years old. He was standing in the middle of a jewelry store with a sack of diamonds in his hand. He remembered his mom telling him that if was doing something that he thought was right. To keep doing it. But this time it wasn't that simple. He was usually gone by the time the cops got there, but this time he wasn't. He thought to himself 'is this it?' But little did he know that this was just the begging. Because before the cops could say a word. He was swept off his feet by the Batman himself and started crying, revealing how true his age was. He was tired of acting older and more mature. The only reason he was crying was because he was scared. Not just because the Bats was there. But because he was scared for his life and for what his dad would do to him when he got home later that night without the jewels. He didn't know his mom was Catwoman. But he knew she stole from some people. And that his dad was a really bad person that hurt people. As Batman let him go he quickly ran home without turning back. He pushed the door to his apartment open and slammed it shut. He started to run to his room but his dad grabbed the back of his collar. "Where the hell do you think you're going?" His dad grumbled. Maddox stared at the floor shaking because he knew his father was abusive and cruel and mean. But he simply said "I lost them..." it came out as a whisper until his dad backhanded him "I'll ask you once more you piece of filth. WHERE ARE THEY?!" Maddox flinched and said a little louder "I-I lost th-them D-d-daddy..." he stuttered out knowing he was going to get a beating for this. As soon as he thought it his father stood up and took off his belt. He slowly looked up and his father slung the belt hitting Maddox in the face with it with so much force Maddox fell to the ground. Maddox looked up at his dad while crying but his dad continued to beat him. Selina, Maddox's mother ran down the stairs and tried to pull her husband from the child. But she wasn't strong enough "Stop! Stop Henry! He's just a child!" She yelled at him. Then Henry slapped her, and she fell. Maddox helped his mother up with all the strength he had left and ran to his small room that only contained a bed and a small dresser. With much force he slammed the door and locked it. Then began crying as he knew it could've been worse for him and his mother but was grateful that it wasn't. But little did he know that a certain Bat was watching this entire time and was plotting a way to help out the little broken excuse of a child.

This book is set in Gotham city. Maddox is a poor child who's dad is an abusive gang leader and his mom is Catwoman who has become frail and weak after giving birth to Maddox.
