Jayne is a hopeless romantic person. She believes that her prince charming is just around the corner. But what if her best friend's ex-lover confessed to her? Will she accept his feelings or ignore it for the sake of their friendship?
Paolo is the campus heartthrob who is known for being a playboy. He has this hobby of changing girls every week. He is a heartbreaker but when she met Jayne everything seemed to change. He suddenly believed in love.
Megan, in the other hand, is one of Paolo's ex-girlfriends. She was so in love with Paolo and when he left her, all she wants to do is ruin Paolo's life. When she knew about Paolo's feelings for her bestfriend, she had a plan.
It is the first day of junior year in College. The campus was full of energy; some are excited to see their former classmates, some are excited to start a new chapter of their lives, some are neutral (students who are going to school just to pass the course lol). There are new faces in the campus, like Jayne. She is a transferee from a state university. She has high hopes in this university since it is one of the leading universities in the city. She is enrolled under the College of Accountancy. She is just looking around campus when the bell rang. Jayne knew that it was the signal that it is the start of their class.
"I am Mrs. Carlos and I will be your professor in Research for the whole semester." the lady in front said.
"Wow! What a boring subject" Jayne said at the back of her mind.
Few minutes and a lot of boring discussions passed....
"Okay class. Pick a partner for your final output" Mrs. Carlos said
Jayne was anxious because she does not know anyone in the section then suddenly...
"Well, hello there, Mr. Mendoza. You are late again. Take the vacant seat and see me after class." The professor said and while pointing the chair beside her.
Paolo sat on the seat beside Jayne. He was also instructed by the old lady to pair up with Jayne since they are seatmates. The two got along well. They even shared jokes with each other. But during those moments, Megan was not happy with what she is seeing.
"I won't let you enjoy your freedom, Mr. Mendoza" she said to herself.
Megan ran towards Jayne after the bell rang.
"Hello! I'm Megan. You're a new student, right?" She said it with a smile as if they were really close to each other.
"Yes. I am Jayne, by the way." Jayne answered politely.
Megan had a plan. She wanted to be close with Jayne to know what is happening with her connection with Paolo. Megan walked with Jayne to the gym. They have the same schedule, so she has more chance to get to know her. She wants Jayne to help her get Paolo back. Jayne agreed.
As the weeks passed, they became best friends, unexpectedly. They eat together during breaks, they hang out after their class, and they even call each other during free times.
But with just a snap, everything was gone. Megan hated Jayne. She was jealous about the message she got from her best friend.
"Paolo confessed to me. He told me he likes me." This was the exact text message she got from Jayne. She was so upset about what she just read. After how many months, she isn't over Paolo yet. The text message left her with the last option; revenge.
She planned to ruin what is between Paolo and Jayne. She wanted them to suffer like how she is struggling to move forward with a broken heart.
With the grudge she has against the two, she hired two guys to kidnap Jayne during their org party. All her plans were being set up. She told her hired men that they need to bring Jayne to the abandoned building near their school.
At exactly 7pm, the party started. She was looking for the two so she could spy on them.
After a few hours, she then texted her hired men when Jayne was excused by the org president.
**bzzzzt**
"We have her. See you. Don't forget our payment." This was the text she got from an anonymous number.
Before she rushed into the abandoned building, she texted Paolo. "Meet me at the abandoned building if you want Jayne back."
When she was on her way to the building, Megan was shaking and felt guilty for what she did to her best friend. Their happy memories flashed into her mind. But the anger in her heart is strong, she really wanted them to suffer. As she was approaching the place, she sighed heavily and walked towards the entrance.
As she entered, one of the guys approached her and asked if he should torture her.
"NO" she shouted unconsciously. She gave the envelope that has the payment inside and told them to leave.
During this moment, she knew that everything she was doing to her best friend is wrong. She is betraying her best friend; whom she considered to be her sister from another mother.
As she was walking slowly towards Jayne; who is currently unconscious. Tears are slowly falling down from her eyes. She knew that everything was a mistake.
Few minutes after she sat beside her best friend, Jayne finally woke up.
"What is the meaning of this, Megan?" Jayne asked.
"I was blinded by my anger towards you and Paolo. I was jealous because I still love him, I still want him." Megan stated while she tried to hold her tears.
"But why did you end up doing this? This is far from you. This is not you, Megan." Jayne replied.
"That is why I broke up with you." Paolo came and interrupted the conversation.
"You were so selfish. You wanted everything to fall into your hands. You didn't mind the happiness of the people around you." Paolo explained.
"I know.. I know that I was. I regret everything I did to you. I regret doing this. I was so dumb to think of doing such. Especially that it involved the safety of my best friend." Megan said while she was breathing heavily. She can not even control her tears anymore.
"I understand what you are going through, Meg. I know how much you loved Paolo. But trust me, I tried ignoring my feelings to him. I value our friendship. I know in my heart that you do, too. And I know that this isn't you. I know that you are better than this." Jayne replied.
As Jayne was talking, Megan felt her sincerity.
"I loved you, Megan. And I am sorry if I broke a part of you. I was happy that you became part of my life, but things change, Megan. I didn't want to continue what we have if I wasn't even into the relationship anymore. That is why I had to break up with you. We needed to part ways." Paolo added.
Megan cried harder when she heard those words.
"I'm so sorry, Paolo. I didn't know that you weren't happy anymore. All I was focused about was my feelings. You are right, I was selfish. And I genuinely regret everything." Megan said as she was wiping her tears.
"I know you are better than this, Megan. You deserve someone that you can comfortable with. Luckily, I was able to find that person. And I hope that you can accept that. I love Jayne. She makes me happy with the most random things." Paolo said to Megan as he held her hand.
"Everything is clear to me now. I am letting go of the grudge that I held for a long time. I know that Jayne can make you happy. And I know her sincerity towards her feelings for you. We deserve to be happy. You deserve each other. I am so sorry that I had to go down to this level and try to ruin my best friend's love life." she paused. "How selfish, right? *laughed bitterly*"
"Come on, Meg." Jayne reached for a hug. "With your kind heart, I know that you will find someone that will surely make you believe that love is worth it. When you find him, there will be ups and downs. You need to consider his feelings too. You need to give and take. Always remember that Paolo and I will be here for you no matter what. Okay?"
Megan nodded and started tearing up again.
