The Stars 🌟

I watched the golden sun turning into a shade of tangerine and wrapping its radiant claws around itself as it fell behind the horizon, painting the sky shades of red and pink.

It slowly turned the sky to blood red. As it sunk completely, the sky covered the huge ball of fire with its dark purple blanket which steadily turned into coal-black curtain over the sky and sent it to sleep.

Then the entire sky twinkled like tiny-little diamonds. Some stars faded, some were too tiny to be seen properly, although they were flickering on and off every few seconds. Some were bigger than the other stars and they shined like glowing light bulbs. The wind was chilly; I no more heard chirping of birds as they returned to their nests long ago, only trees swayed from one side to another, dancing in their own way. Leaves rustled as the cold breeze blew.

As soon as I looked down on the dark green grass, I found magnificent glowing creatures flying around my legs. They danced in a heavy swarm of light. As the weather got colder, I sat down staring at the beauties of nature for a long time as I was absorbed in deep, blue thoughts.
I began to think about how life had been through these fifteen years, what mistakes I had made and how I could reach my goals further in forgetting the past. I looked up to the sky again; every star that shined seemed to wink at me. I felt like I could confide things in them as they looked down at me.

Every star that glistened made me want to wish upon it. I saw the Alpha Aquarii far away and began to think about zodiac signs. Could the name be related to Aquarius? People born under the sign are equally good at thinking about abstract and practical things. What appeal to them a lot are humanitarian activities, and they have a good sense of humour and they are known for their wide-ranging interests.

They are also inventive, independent and loyal. So I wished for all those positive qualities that I lacked.
Then I turned right and searched for another big star to wish upon. The Sirius twinkled as I stared upon it, and yearned for a few things. But more surprisingly, I seemed too desperate for the Pole star.

My eyes wide open, I gazed upon the star to the North dazzling as if it was smiling and telling me, “Look you’ve found me at last.” Right then, I remembered I used to lay down with my lovely-old Granma, who would tell me stories, recite sweet-sounding surahs and share her memories with me which always taught me lesson of the day. Tears rolled down my cheeks as I saw her smile there, disguised as a glowing star, hidden out there some place where we could find infinity.

Now it was time to make the last wish. I lay down on the dew-covered grass. The cold breeze clinging onto my cheeks, rushed through my hair as it seemed to say “Goodbye friend. Time won’t wait, so we have to hurry now. Make every single second of your life count, girl.” I looked back at the sky again, the moon slowly started to appear in the dark. Soon the whole place was gray and transformed by the light of the moon. It hung like a majestic-moonstone ring Earth would wear. I closed my eyes in peace and got lost into the night, completely.

Later, bright – vibrant rays of sun struck my eyes as I woke up from the deep sleep. I notice I had slept there all night long without even realizing a thing. I got up from where I lay and looked up at the sky for one last time. I found the big gaseous ball of fire, spreading its rays of hopes through the tinted clouds across the sky announcing a new day. This gave me new hope to begin again as I prayed and made my last wish upon it and walked down the hill with new thoughts filling my mind.

I believe, that’s the magic of stars.
