Interrupted Sleep

As soon as I got to my room I got myself ready for bed, but when it came to actually attempting to go to sleep, I found myself counting sheep and even that didn't work.

In the end, I resorted to my laptop and continued my search about Hotel Nigh. I found more articles that were just various translations of the original article by Betty Tibet which I already read. There were a few gems in the haystack, however, because I did manage to find other websites dedicated for solving mysteries, and one specific mystery had Hotel Nigh playing a vast part in it. One website that stood out more to me than any other was as followed:

CAN YOU FIND THE HIDING SPOT?
It may be mere hearsay or it may be actual facts, but there is one hiding space in the hotel of Hotel Nigh that seems to hide anything you want. Of course, the actual hotel isn't exactly right in sight either, which guarantees the concealment of your secret. That's what people go to Hotel Nigh for, isn't it? You've been, haven't you? You've been there hoping to eradicate the secret you've been harbouring for so long and now it's becoming too much for you.I know you have. I went for exactly the same reason. You see, I had this object as well as a secret. I believe my secret is still hiding between the walls and floors of the hotel, letting it sink into the deep foundations. As for my object, however, I am unsure. People can leave comments on here with your guesses on what the object is, but will you ever find it? I'm sure it's still in the hotel. One last question: have you ever heard how the secrets started in this hotel?

Without reading anymore, I retrieved my phone off my nightstand and called Melina a few times. She didn't answer until the fourth call, and even by that point she muttered a groggy, "Hello."

"You fell asleep quickly," I acknowledge bluntly. "Any chance you can get to my room?"

"Can I sleep there?" Her voice was not devoid of the grogginess yet, so I could only hope she wouldn't be too annoyed that I'd just woke her up from her slumber.

If she does come to my room, then I'll even let her fall asleep on my bed. It's not every day you get to have a beautiful and clever female in your bed, lying next to you. And it's been a long time since I have, to be honest. And if we were being honest, I missed it.

"Sure, just get here as quickly as possible."

Apparently "as quickly as possible" translated into taking ten minutes for Melina to get herself out of bed, walk down some stairs and down the corridor to my room. My hands were beginning to get clammy from the thought of something having happened to her and she'd never make it to my room. I even jumped when she knocked lightly on my door. She doesn't have any energy when she's sleepy either it seems. So, the fact that I jumped was completely moronic.

"Sit on the bed," I said, but she had already flopped back against the duvet. The bed wasn't exactly a double bed, but we'd have to make do. "No, come up to the pillow," I instructed softly, actually quite amused that she'd flopped right onto the bed and was nowhere near the pillow and apparently had no intentions of shunting upwards because she hadn't moved for a good minute after I uttered the instruction.

She didn't even seem grudging as she shifted her body upwards by kicking her body off the bed. It only took her a few moments before her head hit the pillow, and I instantly knew she wasn't going to be sitting up anytime soon, so I shunted myself down to lie next to her. She didn't even seem deterred or fazed by the proximity of our bodies and the fact that her pyjamas consisted of a tank top and baggy trousers. At least she'd put socks on to walk down the stairs. No shoes, though.

"Look at this," I said, pointing to the laptop screen.

Melina opened her eyes but then winced and groaned, "Too bright."
