Lara Croft wasn't a normal girl, this was because of the parents she had and the person she was and came to be.

It is because of her father that she got to go on a trip, a trip she may not return from and if she did, she would not return the same physically or mentally.
Lara Croft was a teenager just like any other except her dad was a millionaire archaeologist. Well, was. Lara is an orphan. Her parents died under mysterious circumstances while looking for the Island of Yamatai; a 'mythical' island that had been reported a few times throughout history by important people like Marco Polo and Magellan. Lara's parents set out on a route to the East China Sea 3 years ago and were supposed to come back only two months after the trip started but things didn't go as planned because Richard and Amelia Croft have not been seen to this day.
