Chapter 2

Diana's Point Of View

I fiddled with my pen as the teacher went on with his lecture. I looked down at my notebook full of notes and scribbles and looked back up at the teacher.

I was in my AP English class. My favorite out of all six I'm taking.

This class is the only thing I look forward to in high school. Everything else is horrible. Absolute hell.

I felt something hit me on the side of my head and I looked in the direction that it came in. Penny and Vivian were snickering and looked back up at the teacher. I sighed and quickly picked up the paper ball. I unwrapped it and forced the tears back.

You little bitch, go kill yourself already. Nobody wants you here.

P.S. You better have lunch money!

I stuffed the paper into my backpack and pushed the tears back. My eyes stung and I ignored it. I fumble with the ends of my sweater sleeves and tried to pay attention to the lecture that was taking place.

"Okay class, now it's time to work. You will need to write three poems about any topic that you want and you need to turn them in by tomorrow. You may present one if you would like, but that is optional. You have ten minutes until the end of class so get started." Mrs. Aasen told us.

I turned the page in my notebook and began writing.

"I'm going to write about summer." Penny said loudly, leaning back in her chair.

"I'm going to write about tanning!" Vivian said, chewing her gum loudly.

I sighed and rolled my yes.

Of course they would do something like that.

I picked my pen back up and resumed writing.

I walked in the gigantic halls and tried to avoid running into people. I held my notebook and textbooks close to my chest. I kept my head down and tried walking quickly to my next class. Except I came across Penny and Vivian. Great.

"Hey, cutter." Penny sneered. I looked up and Vivian pushed my books on the ground. They hit the floor with a loud thud. People stopped and looked, pity in their eyes, but didn't do anything to stop it.

I kneeled down to pick up my books but Penny kicked me over and started to repeatedly kick me in the stomach. I gasped and tried not to make as much noise as possible.

"Hey, Penny- woah, are you okay?" Jared said wide eyed, appearing next to Penny.

Penny immediently stopped and smiled sweetly at him. "Everything is fine, baby. Diana here, just tripped. Clumsy, huh?"

I looked up at Jared and he was looking at me with worry in his eyes. His warm hazel eyes looking at me. He was so beautiful, his shaggy brown hair, slightly covering his eyes. His sweet smile, melting me whenever I see him flashing it.

Why did he have to date someone like Penny? Didn't he know how cruel she was? He deserves someone who is equally as amazing as he is, someone who really loves him.

But he would never love someone like me.

I'm pathetic.

Depressed.

Cutter.

Ugly.

A total waste of space.

"Come on babe, let's go." Penny said, flashing a smile at her boyfriend. She hooked one of her arms around one of Jared's and led him away. Jared glanced back at me and we locked eyes. He looked away and disappeared with Penny.

"You better finish our homework, bitch." Vivian hissed, and quickly walked where Penny and Jared disappeared.

I sighed and slowly got up, grabbing my fallen books. I started to walk to my next class and kept my head down.

I just hope the rest of the day goes by fast.
